FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For guitar lessons, I charge $30 for a 30 minute lesson, $40 for a 45 minute lesson, and $45 for an hour long lesson. In academic tutoring, I charge $30 for an hour long session. Sometimes lessons/tutoring sessions run long, and I like to assure my clients that I do not charge extra for going overtime to cover material we are working on at the end of the session.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually start with one free lesson, just so the student and I can get an idea of what to teach based on the student's goals. For academic tutoring, before the first lesson I like to contact the student to lay out a plan based on student's goals (depending on upcoming tests, etc.). For guitar lessons, I ask students to bring in a few songs they want to learn for the first lesson that we can work on together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an undergraduate student at the College of Charleston in my last semester of my senior year. I have taken all of the upper level Physics courses and expect to receive my B.S. in Physics and B.S. in Astrophysics. Given this, I am well-versed in mathematics up to Calculus III and Physics. I have been employed as a tutor for the Physics and Astronomy Department at the College of Charleston for the past year and a half, and currently work as an independent contracting tutor for Varsity Tutors. (Note: if you are looking for a background check, I have one available on Varsity Tutors website). I have also been playing guitar for 14 years and am currently a student in the Jazz program at the College of Charleston. I have taught guitar for 6 years as well.
