Introduction: Services offered:
Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for employees and associates, and recommend and implement corrective solutions
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user equipment and software, in order to deliver required service levels
Performs regular maintenance on telecommunications and hardware technology, as necessary
Assess the need for and implement upgrades or repairs to PCs, including the installation or replacement of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard disks, ribbon cables, hard drives, RAM, memory chips, CD-ROMs, etc.
Ensure that physical connections (i.e. RJ-45 ethernet jacks, connectors between PCs and servers, etc.) are in proper working order
Run cabling and place connections for new wiring needs
Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations
Assist in maintaining an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network cards, and other components and equipment
Document instances of component failure, repair, installation, and removal
If necessary, liaise with third-party support and equipment vendors
Assist in evaluating technical specifications for purchase of PCs, desktop hardware and related products
Provide ongoing support, assistance, and training for hardware and telecommunications
Track usage and maintain uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
Develop procedure and written instructions to assist in the use of hardware and telecommunications
Where required, administer and resolve issues with associated end-user software products
Receive and respond to incoming calls and/or e-mails regarding problems
Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware needs
Collaborate with peers to ensure efficient use of technology
Regularly reviews the progress of work in the department, so that questions are answered, decisions are acted upon, and problems resolved, as it pertains to hardware and telecommunications
