Introduction: Services offered: • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for employees and associates, and recommend and implement corrective solutions • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user equipment and software, in order to deliver required service levels • Performs regular maintenance on telecommunications and hardware technology, as necessary • Assess the need for and implement upgrades or repairs to PCs, including the installation or replacement of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard disks, ribbon cables, hard drives, RAM, memory chips, CD-ROMs, etc. • Ensure that physical connections (i.e. RJ-45 ethernet jacks, connectors between PCs and servers, etc.) are in proper working order • Run cabling and place connections for new wiring needs • Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations • Assist in maintaining an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network cards, and other components and equipment • Document instances of component failure, repair, installation, and removal • If necessary, liaise with third-party support and equipment vendors • Assist in evaluating technical specifications for purchase of PCs, desktop hardware and related products • Provide ongoing support, assistance, and training for hardware and telecommunications • Track usage and maintain uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) • Develop procedure and written instructions to assist in the use of hardware and telecommunications • Where required, administer and resolve issues with associated end-user software products • Receive and respond to incoming calls and/or e-mails regarding problems • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware needs • Collaborate with peers to ensure efficient use of technology • Regularly reviews the progress of work in the department, so that questions are answered, decisions are acted upon, and problems resolved, as it pertains to hardware and telecommunications
