After experiencing hanging startup problems with my mid-2011 15" MacBook Pro (grey screen, horizontal pixel band, and inability to boot into safe or recovery modes), I took to Thumbtack to enlist the help of an expert in lieu of risking destroying my logic board with various DIY solutions. Rick promptly contacted me and gave me a base appraisal of the estimated repair timeline and approximate cost of the procedure. I then contacted him to discuss the possible repair options. While I would self-evaluate my literacy with general computer/OS terms as above average, Rick's expertise was apparent immediately. He listened intently to my concerns, and then helped me compare the cost-effectiveness of various repair options, conveying the pros and cons of each with no-nonsense clarity. Though I ended up electing to replace a faulty GPU card with a local repair shop, I can't recommend Rick highly enough. His willingness to explore all the options at my disposal helped lead me towards a decision that I feel (hope) was best for my unique circumstance. In that regard, it's clear that he recognizes the need to do what's best for the customer, rather than what enhances his bottom line.
