House Doctors of Charleston
I hired House Doctors for what should have been a simple task of installing a front door. Jack came out to my home, accessed the work that needed to be done, and gave me a quote which was somewhat reasonable. I would have rather the contractor order the materials but I decided to being my wife and I wanted to choose the door we wanted. With that being said we ordered the door from Lowes and found out that it would take 35 days to get it in. I made sure to touch base with House Doctors to let them know how long it would take to arrive and even emailed them the detailed paperwork of the door(dimensions, etc) to ensure that I had the right measurements. Jack emailed back and assured that the door I had would work without an issue. Finally by the time the door came in(1 month later) I contacted them to confirm a date to do the job which was 2 weeks from the day the door arrived. The morning of, one of the technicians shows up at 8am and looks at the existing opening and door ordered and tells me "there is a problem". The existing opening was about 6 inches wider than the door ordered which was what should have been the known. Obviously the line of communication was non-existent due to the fact that the very same paperwork he had in his possession was the same as what I emailed Jack to confirm before ordering. An hour passes before he abruptly leaves and after another hour passes I find out that he quits. Here it is 5 hours later at 1pm from when the job should have been started Jack shows up and reassesses the job that should have been done already. He apologized for the situation of his technician quitting but did not for making what he deemed and what should have been a simple task into a complicated one with probably more hidden costs. He did not offer to waive those costs due to the inconvenience he created by what seems to be a lack of communication. He said that he would send me another quote in a day or so which I never received and he was not clear about another possible start date. 3 days later with no response from them I'm stuck with a door and having to shop around for another contractor. In my opinion if I were in his shoes and had my reputation on the line I would have personally stepped in the place of the technician and filled that gap to fulfill the obligation of the customer. I felt that House Doctors did not care about the job or me as a customer. I gave them 1 star based on the initial dream I was sold.
