FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I can price by the hour or by the job. My hourly rate is $20/hr. I can work out a per word cost for you. The hourly rate is cheaper because you pay for exactly the amount of time I work, rather than an estimate for the project. If you’re paying hourly, I require a payment on Monday for the previous week’s work.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer, I like to schedule a Zoom meeting to discuss their project. Next, I get started on their manuscript. On the first pass through the book, I pick up glaring errors, and any spelling, usage, grammar, and punctuation issues, typically with Tracking Changes in MS Word or its Google Docs equivalent. This allows my clients to choose which of my edits they want to keep. On the second pass, I check for fine grammar and punctuation problems. If the client allows time for a third pass, I search for minute details that give the book. This extra step gives a book its special glow. After my edits are complete, I return a renamed file to my client with all the edits for them to do as they please.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have edited books since 2019. I edited 15 fiction and 1 nonfiction titles. In 2025, I completed Southern New Hampshire University’s Editing and Coaching course with an A. I also have a Certificate in Editing from ACES, The Society for Editing, a national, professional organization for editors.
