I got the privilege to work along side of David. He is one of the hardest working professionals I have ever worked with. When you see his work, you can tell he has a high attention to detail. So if your looking for quality work call David Sanchez at All Star Flooring! Louis Carrillo

David was to do our entry, great room kitchen in tile and a tongue and groove ceiling with crown molding in July and August. David claimed to be licensed upon his arrival even leaving a license number on the original bid. It turns out that California licenses do not have alphabetical characters in them. So, beware David is not licensed in the state of California. He had quickly flashed a license by me that I did not have a chance to look at stating that someone had stolen his information in the past so he does not like to give people a copy. Through research I found that in 2007 he had a license in Tennessee. This means there is no bond when thing go wrong. And in this situation things went horribly wrong. David claimed to know how to do the tongue and groove ceiling that we had requested, as well as crown molding. He has no experience with this material. He failed to prep the wood, the joints where awful, he did not use a circle cut saw to go around the can lights and fire sprinklers. He did not fill and sand the wood so the finish would be smooth. He did not fill the joints. It is all now glued to me ceiling and is a mess from attempts to fix it with sparkle after the original painting was done. The tile work- I purchased an expensive Italian wood plank tile. the pieces are about 10" x 60 " and cost about $35 each. David failed to level the area before putting down the tile, and tried to fill in with mortar, in doing this there are several areas where the mortar was too thin, or not troweled on correctly so I have hollow areas under my expensive floor. These areas will need to come up and be redone, as there is a strong chance that the tile will break or pop up. I am in the process of looking for bids on this now. The grout was also applied incorrectly, and we have several areas where the grout come is so low that all the sand that comes in the house gets trapped in the grooves. I will be needing to have the floor regrouted and sealed. The grout lines were all supposed to be no more than 1/4" however around some of the edges I have grout as wide as 1" . When confronted with the lack of a license and my concerns David became angry and argumentative. He resorted to name calling and and making threats. David also requested 50% for a down payment which is illegal in California. The law allows 10% or $1000 whichever is less. He was paid this, and he was paid in full for the work that was done to spite the poor workmanship and the fact that it will cost us a lot to fix the damage that he did. New materials will also have to be purchased. The last concern that I will list here is that David claimed he got materials cheaper and that he gets a military discount, urging us to allow him to buy materials. However when I checked the prices at Home Depot and Lowes, the standard price was substantially cheaper than what David tried to charge us. I would not recommend this contractor to anyone. And with the temper he portrayed, I would not want to have him in my home again.
