Dewayne was very quick to come by and give us a quote. He worked with on scheduling and showed up on the appointed day and time. The work was outstanding. He replaced the paneling in my den with sheetrock and fixed the ceiling. He also fixed. The ceiling in my kitchen and patched in where we took down bulkheads. Scraped the kitchen and living and dining room ceilings and replaced the ceiling in the bathroom. They muded and sanded the whole deal. It all looks like brand new. They completed it all on time and on budget including a few extras to boot Very satisfied would use him again in heartbeat.

Great group of guys! Worked hard, asked questions to make sure I was good with what was happening and finished project in a day. Even one of my neighbors came over to see if they would repair her fence. Top notch and would recommend them to anyone. They may even do my kitchen remodel as well!

Kenny Keele and his crew did an excellent job replacing my kitchen cabinets, counter tops and back splash. They removed my fur downs and moved an air vent to make room for taller cabinets. They replaced the lighting and upgraded my electrical outlets. They were respectful of my home and schedule and were overall very pleasant to work with. I look forward to working with them in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to renovate their kitchen.

Ok where do I start from? David Conrad is one of a kind..... My husband found him on thumbtack and of course my antennas went up... I was suspicious from day 1(after all u can't find good workmen via the Internet , right?) Ohh soo wrong....Our very first project dec 2014, was converting our carpet stairway to hardwood, then repairing the ceiling in the laundry room, then converting our unused attic space into a full bedroom suite with bathroom/toilet, and extending the upstairs hallway, then painting the bedrooms upstairs, then creating a laundry chute, then redoing the kitchen backsplash ....... (Unfortunately unable to upload pics with my review)..... David did all of these projects with integrity and he always gave a fair price we never felt cheated. And did I say the finished work of every single one of these project was flawless, obviously, otherwise we won't keep re-hiring him... He is easy to reach via text, calls and will respond promptly to your needs.... He would come back to any project until you are 100% satisfied with the work... He listens and is very good at taking your vision and making it a reality.....Go ahead and hire Mr Conrad and you won't be disappointed ...... It's ok, you can thank me later..😊 I have referred him to family, friends, colleagues, but I felt we owed it to thumbtack to leave a review here, thank you thumbtack for helping my family find a great "Jack of all trade" who happens to be very good at them.... They painted my whole house for a very reasonable price. They even took the time out to place tile in my kitchen, breakfast area, and laundry room. Vernice and Tim really made my house look like a brand new house. I definitely recommend them to anyone for any upgrades or changes you want to do to your house. They are reasonable in price, persistent, and fast. I will most definitely use them again.

Kris completed two projects for me. The first was a remodel of a master closet- including a custom built shoe rack. The second project was installing glass mosaic tile in the kitchen. The work looks great and I am very pleased with the outcome. I would hire Kris again.

I hired Alan to mow my lawn and remove trees/bushes that were overgrown around my pond area. Alan and his crew exceeded my expectations. Alan was very meticulous with the care of my property and kept me informed of every detail along the way (including aggressive snakes he encountered near the pond). Alan is a very hard worker with outstanding work ethic. I live on a 4 acre property and can now enjoy more of my property. I am able to view the pond from my kitchen window, which I was unable to see due to the overgrown bushes/trees. I am more than satisfied with Alan's work and would recommend him for your landscape needs.

Brian and his crew refinished our staircase and flooring, painted our 2 story foyer, part of our upstairs and installed a chandelier. We could not have asked for a better job. The painting was outstanding. While others had told us we needed to replace our flooring on our staircase Brian was able to refinish them and then painted each swindle perfectly. We are extremely pleased with the quality of work and will be using Brian and his guys again in the future.

I couldn't believe it was all done in just 2 days. Korey made the work seem like it was coming from a family member I will definitely be calling again

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

    • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
    • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
    • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
    • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
