“The power of ah” has been a serious game changer for me. In the past I have not always been the best communicator, especially when it came to sharing my perspectives on certain situations. I have also struggled to communicate my emotions in the past or how someone/something made me feel. Since being introduced to the idea of “the power of ah”, I have learned how to more effectively communicate my thoughts to others. In addition to that, I have become so much better at listening to and thinking about the perspectives of others. Intentionally using “ah” phrases have allowed me to more actively listen to others and become more open-minded about the perspectives of others. In doing so, I have become a more empathetic person. I have been able to really see the realities of others that are different from my own and this has definitely led me to several ah-ha moments in the form of perspective changes. As a teacher, I have discovered that there are several groups of people that are extremely underrepresented in school curriculum. It took me a while to truly see that, but through conversations where perspectives and understandings, as well as acceptances were effectively communicated between myself and a colleague, I had a major ah-ha moment and went to work to do better in my own classroom with my own students with regard to the representation of people of color as well as women in my curriculum. That is just one of many examples of ah-ha moments that I have had since learning about this cutting edge communication technique that is “the power of ah”. I highly recommend starting to use “ah” phrases in everyday conversations with the people in your life. It won’t take long for you to discover that “the power of ah” is a true lifestyle changer. It allows you to have a more positive outlook on life.
