Introduction: I am a Licensed Building Contractor and have built numerous houses in the Chattanooga area but our passion lies in Remodeling Kitchen and Bathrooms and Whole House Renovations. My wife does the designing / layout and together we see to it that the Homeowner gets the Comfort and Quality they are looking for. Most of our work is through word of mouth and for repeat customers. References available. Before and after pictures also available. I enjoy everything that has to do with designing kitchen and bathrooms, but the gratification that comes with a homeowner telling us that they love the awesome new look of their newly renovated living space has to be what we like the most.

George of Better Homes is a pleasure to work with. He has an old world view of industry lacking in many of today's' service people. Work performed on your home will be to his standard which permits nothing less than the excellence he would demand of work performed on his personal home. He and his crew have taken on and completed several jobs for us from insulation and duct sealing in our crawlspace to repairing the flashing on our chimney and a myriad of repairs and renovations throughout our home. He will shortly be remodeling our front entrance way with a design of his own creation. We were fortunate to have George come into our lives and so will you be should you choose his company.

I had 2 projects that Better Homes completed for me....the master bathroom and kitchen....both were gutted and completely redone....I LOVE both!!! They listened to what I wanted and were so helpful in helping me choose the material in achieving the perfect finish. They are very detail oriented, top of the line material was used and the craftsmen they used to do each phase of the job were excellent. In the end I have a beautiful kitchen (my grandson said it looks like a picture out of a magazine) and a modern, up to date bathroom that I am really enjoying. I will definitely use then in the future for any other projects that I need to have done. Thanks George and Sheila for your guidance in my remodel.

I met George Allen initially through the EPB energy audit. George did some excellent work with the insulation and air sealing in my attic and under-the-house crawl space, plus some trench-digging to direct the water away from the foundation. Then he and his wife painted my kitchen, deck, and laundry room and did a great job. They are perfectionists and are not above doing the smallest, biggest, or dirtiest tasks. They are also good at communicating, which is refreshing.

I own a home in Red Bank, TN built in the 1950's so repair/maintenance is a constant. Working with George Allen at Better Homes was the best experience to date. George guided me through product selection so that the completed exterior house repair and deck stain/paint would look good, function well and last. His crew worked around my schedule, were always there when they said they would be, worked fast and provided quality craftsmanship. Before final payment was made George made certain I was happy with the completed work and clean-up. I so appreciated his expertise and look forward to our next project.

George was very good to work with. I have never worked on such a larger project with a contractor before but I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. He always called me to keep me informed and ask my permission if he had any doubts to what I wanted. I appreciate him and his team. They were great.

Our pricing varies depending on the overall scope of work. Although many jobs will have the same core work, there are many varying factors, such as, site conditions, accessibility, and materials that will affect the final price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once initial contact has been made, an in-person visit is scheduled. During this visit we discuss the ideas the homeowner might have for their project as well as offer some suggestions. Then, we begin the process of figuring out the cost of work to be done. We write up a detailed estimate that will include scope of work, materials to be used, allowances on some items and an expected time line. Our bidding process is a turn-key concept. In other words our price quoted will not change, unless upgrades are requested, or hidden issues not know at time of quote become an issue, or changes to the original scope of work are made.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
George has been a State Licensed Building Contractor for 19 years. Although George has built many new homes, he and his wife Sheila's passion is Remodeling, and Designing Kitchen and Baths. We try to keep up with the latest trends.
