Mark pressure washed, hauled off some wood, cut down a tree and sealed our deck. He did an outstanding job and quick too. Not to mention, his prices were extremely reasonable. We could not have asked for better and will call on him again!

I chose the maintenance plan and am very pleased with the work that has been done. Great value for the amount of work performed. Also, Trim Time is handling a landscaping job (change out borders, take out overgrown shrubs, mulch, etc.) and I am very pleased with the results. My yard looks fabulous- very open and clean looking. I would highly recommend Trim Time Lawn Care.

S&S Tree Service came out and did an outstanding job for my father. They managed to take down several trees to include a few high risk trees safely and without and collateral damage. They are an incredible company who truely took pride in their work. The price was extremely fair and the job was done within two days. My father told me to " give them as many stars as I can." I would absolutely recommend S&S to anyone to get Tree work done. I can guarantee that if we have to get more trees taken down S&S will be our first phone call.

I have used Classic Lawn and Tree for many things at our home. They have been wonderful on our normal lawn care and upkeep. They always have a plan when it comes to what we should do next so that I don’t have to guess at what needs to be done. The level of professionalism from basic lawn care to fertilization or filling in low spots with dirt and re-seeding the lawn etc. makes this company exceptional and great for my busy schedule. I don’t have to worry about anything. They took down some trees for us as well. When I got home from work 100% of the debris was cleaned up and gone. They came back later and ground up the stumps and planted grass where the stumps had been. I recently had a couple of large trees fall in a storm. They cut them up and removed everything. They also ground up the stumps so that everything was cleaned up and seeded. I highly recommend Joe and his team for any tree work and lawn maintenance that you may need. It is so rare to find a truly professional lawn and tree company and these guys exceed expectations.

Clint and his crew have taken over the mowing and trimming we don't have time for. They've also saved me from getting on the roof to clean out my gutters. And safely and quickly took down a maple tree. They always leave our yard looking better than it was when they got here. Call 'em - you'll be glad you did!!

Jesus is an extremely competent tree man. He dropped a 30ft.+ tree 12 ft from the corner of my house and the price was very reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone needing tree service. I noticed how well he took care of his equipment and my property and was very impressed with his skill. Do not hesitate to hire him. I know I will the next time I need any tree work. I hired them to put dark mulch on four flower beds and around three trees. They did a wonderful job. Price was reasonable and I did not have to stay home for the job to be done. However, they wanted cash instead of check. It was alright; I will use their service again. Hopefully they will accept check next time.

Andy and his wife Betty did an outstanding job on our tree. It is a very large pin oak approximately 85 feet high. Andy got virtually all the dead wood out of the tree and trimmed it up so it now looks gorgeous. Betty worked like a busy little bee around the base of the tree collecting all the limbs, twigs, and leaves that Andy cut out of the tree. They also left the yard immaculate. I would recommend Veteran Tree Experts to anyone that needs a nice trim job on any of their trees. I will also use them again in the future when I need any more tree work.

After they bid on my job for $150, I found out the real price was several times that. However, I proceeded because the price was closer to what I had expected. But I didn't appreciate the initial low ball price. They started the day after they gave us the estimate and brought several workers. It took them about a day and a half and they did a really good job. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about plants and trees. He gave us several tips on caring for our flower beds and trees. Bottom line, I plan to use them again in the fall to trim a tree and some bushes. The front and side of the house and part of the backyard are transformed and look beautiful.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

        • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
        • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
