The Memphis Academy for Horn and Theory

Introduction: We provide private instruction in French horn for all levels from beginner to very advanced. All ages accepted, but most students need to be in grade 3-4 at the earliest to have adequate background knowledge for theory and the physical maturity needed to play French horn. Lessons range from 30 minutes to an hour long. Students have been awarded college scholarships and received top ratings in auditions and performances. Theory students have been credit for up to the entire first year of college level theory. I have 30 years of successful teaching experience at the university and/or pre-college levels. My masters and doctorates are in music performance and pedagogy (French horn), with cognates in both music theory and musicology. I have performed professionally; taught in my private studio and at the university level, and have experience in the college classroom. References available upon request. My students have been successful and most have studied with me from beginner through high school here in the Memphis area, for a total of 7 years. My masters and doctorates are from Michigan State University.
