First of all I chose your company because of the professional looking website. The movers were right on time. I felt that they handled our household goods as if they were their own. They were very careful to point out any damage that might have occurred while our items were in storage. We had a lot of items that we planned on storing in the garage and they were very creative in helping to fit it all in. I will recommend A-1 Movers to anyone needing help in the Nashville area. Overall, I was very pleased with Family Movers 615. I had a one bedroom apartment on the second floor and was moving half to storage and half to another apartment within a 10 mile radius. It took them (two movers) between 3 and 4 hours to move everything. The two movers did not have a very professional appearance, but they were extremely nice and polite. Their rate was about $30/hour less than most competitors. I would recommend them and use them again.

There are a TON of movers you can choose from in the area and many with excellent reviews. I chose We Haul Nashville because they offered the best combination of benefits: availability, value, and responsiveness, to name just a few. John and Jay showed up on the hottest day of the year and dealt with 3 flights of stairs on both sides of the move. Everything was moved flawlessly and professionally. Thanks, guys! I'd use them again in a heartbeat. They're THAT good.

I needed a bedroom worth of stuff moved from Nashville Tennessee to New York, NY, and I was below the minimum for most large-size moving companies. Hallelujah haulers offered to do the move for approximately half the price and could finish it in only a couple days. The good: Friendly, on time, quick, good communication. Price was excellent. The bad: - Despite my repeatedly saying he needed two people, he only brought one person to New York. I had to help him unload some stuff and hold doors open. - Not the gentlest movers in the world. Some of my stuff got nicked/got wet in the rain while unloading Bottom line: the service was definitely worth what I paid, and I would use them again (though, not if I had really nice stuff)

Jordan and Griffin were great movers. They called ahead of time to see if they could come 20 minutes early. After moving several of the larger furniture items in our apartment (which took 20 minutes), they helped us carry out large boxes and other items that we had intended to carry out ourselves. They maximized our time, put everything in our truck the way we wanted, and took care of our belongings. Would definitely use them again, thank guys for a job well done!

These guys took care of all of my moving needs! They came with the supplies needed to protect my furniture and made sure to carefully move everything out of my rental house, into a storage unit, and into another rental apartment. I also was able to book them the day I decided I wanted to move... Next time I need movers for anything I'll make sure to call this company!

The movers did an excellent job with moving some very large and heavy furniture upstairs and in tight quarters. They were incredibly kind to our children and were very affordable. I definitely recommend this company and will be using them again.

I can not say enough good about Strong Men Moving. I contacted them last minute and they came the next day to help. They did a great job of communicating and letting me know exactly when they would be there, they were careful with my items yet very fast and had a game plan of how they were going to load everything. From now on, these are the only movers I am going to use and will recommend them to friends and family. The quality and the value can not be beat!

The movers at AmerApex Moving could not have done a better job moving our belongings over 2,000 miles away. The crew was on time, polite, very careful, and kept the move fun and in good spirits. Nothing was damaged and the price did not budge a penny. Thank you again for making my move across country stress free. I will be recommending AmerApex Moving to all my friends and family!

We used The Green Truck Moving Co to move within Nashville. The lady I spoke with on the phone, to set the move day, was wonderful. She helped me work out all the details. The day of the move a truck with 5 guys showed up right on time. (I only paid for 4 movers!) They were quick, efficient, curtious and took great pride in their work. They treated our things like they were their own. We will never use another company again! HIGHLY recommend!!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
