FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Ask me about pre paid lesson packages and group rates.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I'd like to spend at least 20-30 minutes over the phone talking about the students current musical ability/experience and the goals the student is looking to achieve. After this we'll talk about what is best for the student regarding the length and direction of the lesson. Younger students typically need less time per lesson with more frequent days to stay more engaged and older students in high school who are motivated to pursue music in college or as a career can handle much longer lessons and can be more beneficial to the student. During our conversation we'll discuss how classical percussion and drumset intersect and share the same concepts but are in alot of ways two different pathways. We can mix both as well but if one focus is more dominate than the other we can focus on what will feed that direction most. We will also discuss the equipment needed in order to do lessons. There are alot of options out there but many options are not suitable in certain applications so once we discuss goals we can discuss the tools we need to best achieve those goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My teaching career began in the 10th grade when I would go to my local middle school to help the percussion students after school with music. Throughout High School I was the percussion section leader and was responsible for helping other percussionist learn their music. In College I received a Bachelors in Music Education with a Teaching Certification from Texas A&M University-Commerce where I studied under World Renowned Marimbist/Percussionist Dr. Brian Zator. Dr. Brian Zator has most recently been the President of the Percussive Arts Society which is the worlds largest Percussion Professional Organization. My college internship was at Forney High School which has repeatedly been one of the best 4A schools for Music in the State of Texas. I worked with the Drumline, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Private Lessons. After College I decided to move to Nashville to pursue a career performing on Drumset. Since moving to Nashville I have performed in 42 States and 4 Different Countries for thousands of people. Since my first time performing on the Grand Ole Opry on October 30th, 2018 I've been fortunate enough to play the Grand Ole Opry 8 Different times both at the Opry House and the Ryman Auditorium. I've been fortunate enough to share the stage with some of the biggest acts in Country Music along with many legends like Lynyrd Skynyrd. I am still predominately a touring Musician but my passion for teaching is leading me to open up a few days a week for private lessons with students seeking an experienced, passionate, hard working, instructor.
