FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most requests on thumbtack fall under my “basic services” (small repairs, home and facilities maintenance and repairs, small projects). I charge a minimum of $125 for a service visit, with an hourly rate for every hour after the first hour. I do other, more advanced and larger work as well, generally quoted by the job or with flat rate pricing.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I focus on two things: understanding the customers problem, and communicating clearly and proactively. I like to ask lots of questions on the front end to make sure I understand the problem the customer is experiencing. Sometimes that problem may need or benefit from more solutions than just the single most obvious solution. I also am careful to communicate my experience, and confidence in the repair once we agree. Logistics like scheduling, and potential pricing changes that could come up are also important. Once we’ve agreed on a plan, I follow it and ask for feedback, questions or further needs!
