Mary Merrill added her designer’s touch to a basic floor plan for our newly-remodeled coffeehouse in the heart of Silicon Valley in California. She picked timeless, California-casual elements, including flooring, counters and countertops, light fixtures, tile, and of course, the furniture and accessories. Mary envisioned a space for people to gather that would be modern and light, but with the warmth of natural woods and eclectic, artistic pieces. She also configured intimate, interesting conversation areas within the open, spacious room, so that people can enjoy a measure of privacy as well. The signature space indicative of our coffee shop name, Living Room, and it’s motto, “Stay awhile!” is a fireplace focal point surrounded by a cozy couch and comfy chairs, with a rug, coffee table and throw blankets to boot. This “living room” calls you to relax and unwind from the stresses of a busy day in the Silicon Valley. The longest uninterrupted wall Mary turned into a venue for local artists to display their art. If you look with eyes to see, you will discover a huge watermark of our logo on this wall, now partially hidden by framed art. It’s a subtle and very cool surprise. Mary’s professionalism and passion drive her to go the extra mile; she not only designed the art wall, but would see it complete! She recruited our first noteworthy artist! Marco Zecchini is the architectural photographer for the buildings at Google. He hails from Northern Italy and his passion for this region has inspired his beautiful photographic artwork. Thank you, Mary, for pouring your creative heart and soul into our big vision. We are getting GREAT reviews and have recently been featured on a nationally- recognized blog for coffee shops, Sprudge.com. Even the UK has tagged us as a “hidden gem” in Silicon Valley. Your designer touch invites people into a memorable experience of our “Living Room” with an amazing first impression! It goes beyond design to the heart of why we do what we do. www.livingroomcoffee.org https://m.facebook.com/livingroomcoffeecreaft/ @LRcoffeecraft https://www.livingroomcoffee.org/2019/07/living-room-coffee-craft-featured-on-sprudge/ https://www.earthtoconnie.com/the-hidden-gems-of-silicon-valley-south-bay-edition/Aug 15, 2019M.Merrill design company's reply
Thank you Christine for such a wonderful experience working with your team for this space. I’m so happy your coffee house is so successful. It was a pleasure working with you. Mary
Excellent work ethic, always on time for our appointments, she is always prepared & organized. Her ideas really set her apart from any other design person. She was able to prep my house out using mostly what I already had on hand. She bought some really cool furniture & lighting to set off some of the vignettes she created. She stayed within the original budget also. We spent more but only because I requested she do more decorating over & above what was scheduled. The first house she actually stage for me & it sold in California in 7 days for more than asking price. She truly has the gift of seeing things before they exist & pulling decorating concepts together. Call her & make your house 🏡 better than ever.Aug 10, 2019M.Merrill design company's reply

Thank you for giving me the opportunity Steve your air BnB looks amazing !!
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge by the hour for small jobs ie, a bedroom, living room. I charge a flat fee for large jobs that are over a months time. Whole house projects. Commercial design.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to find out firstly who they are, what they like and don’t like, and what kind of style they feel alive in, basically I really try to get to know them before I even begin to make suggestions. Then we talk about their budget, and I measure the room I’m working with. I come up with a design concept board that I present to them upon our second meeting.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I custom mixed all my paint for my faux painting business and did a two year apprentice project with a master colorist and designer in Santa Clara California. I have a very excellent trained eye in scale and design layout.
