- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Hello! Thanks for considering me for your project! I have 20 years of experience in Interior Design and have worked with a wide variety of clients and budgets, from celebrities to hardworking single moms, and my goal is to make interior design accessible to everyone! I’m very excited for the opportunity to help you and make your home or workplace a place you love! I begin each project with a phone call to get aquainted and discuss your project and needs. From there we will schedule a 2 hour in-person consultation to further discuss in detail your project, your budget and expectations. Remote consultations are available if needed. The Consultation Fee is $250. Please see the following info for further details and thank you again for stopping by! :)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Here is an overview of how I work, each project is different so we will first discuss your project on the phone and then in greater detail when we meet for the Consultation. Consultation Fee: $250 provides up to 2 hours of time to get to know you and your project needs. We discuss your vision, style, project goals & expectations, and budget. May include measure for 1 room/space within the 2 hour consultation time. ~ Additional measure of room/spaces at consultation, billed at $100 per hour To give you the best possible experience in your project we will also discuss your desired budget. Please be prepared with a clear idea of the budget you are wanting to work within as this helps us both know what is possible for your project. Design Fee: $100 per hour ~ Includes floor plan design/ furniture layout for each room/space ~ Selection of items for each room/space All additional design time such as architectural and/or renovation designs, paint color selections & schedules, plumbing and building material selections, etc. billed at rate of $100 per hour. Design Fee Retainer: Following the Consultation I will estimate the amount of design hours required for your project and this will be included with the Project Budget List. The Design Fee Retainer will be billed and payment required to begin the project. All Design Fee Retainer hours used will be provided in a monthly or bi-monthly statement depending on scope of project. If more design hours are required, a subsequent Design Fee Retainer will be billed until the project is complete. Project Budget List & Project Management: I will provide a detailed Project Budget List based on your desired budget. All design hours, selections and estimated costs including project management time involved for your project will be included. If 3rd party contracted work is involved this will include the time necessary to get needed quotes from contractors. This will provide you with the best picture of what your total project cost will be, adding greater peace of mind for you and overall value to the project and process. I will estimate to the best of my ability the time frame needed to create the Project Budget List, based on the scope of your project. We will meet to review the Project Budget List, and once approved we will begin the project. Communications: Regular and clear communications are essential in the project going smoothly and for me to serve your needs in the best possible way. I request that all phone calls, texts and emails be replied to within the same day sent, unless exceptional circumstances prevent that, as I will do the same in return. Thank you! Special orders: To get exactly what’s right & unique for your project often requires special/custom order items. Items that are special ordered cannot be returned unless they are damaged or defective in some way or arrive not as pictured or specified. In that case the manufacturer will replace the item with a corrected item. If the corrected item is not available from the manufacturer only then will a refund be given for the special ordered item. Lead times will vary and while I do my best to be accurate in my estimate of lead times, I cannot control unforeseen delays or backorders from manufacturers that occasionally do arise. I will always be in communication with you to keep you updated on the arrival of your items. Good things are worth the wait! 3rd party contractors: All work done by contractors I refer is billed directly to client by contractor and my time involved in design, communication, project management and oversight is billed separately at the rate of $100 hour. Custom window treatments, pillows, cushions & bedding: Design time, delivery and installation are included in price. Wholistic Organizational Services: Often to accomplish design goals, clients are needing help with organizing in their space. I offer this wholistic home service at the hourly rate of $100 per hour. I understand the vulnerability of bringing a non-family member into the home and going through personal belongings and I offer this service in a compassionate, non-judgmental way. For organizing projects beyond my capacity, I work in tandem with other professional organizers who have the same approach and I offer to bring them into the project, with client’s permission. Project Installations: I oversee all project installations which includes scheduling, organization, and oversight of the installation the hourly rate of $100 hour. This also includes hanging artwork and mirrors personally or overseeing a 3rd party installer for large scale items. Photos: I may take before and after photos of my design projects for Instagram and my website. I will only post photos with your permission and personal info is never shared unless desired by you. Invoices: All invoices from Zephyr Edelman, Interior Design can be paid with either cash, check, Paypal or Venmo linked to a personal bank account and not a credit card. Invoices paid by credit card incur a 3.5 - 4% processing fee I look forward to the opportunity to help you make your home or workplace a place you love!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Interior design comes naturally and intuitively to me. I have the ability to visualize what looks best for a space and fits the individual clients style and sensibilities, often when they can't visualize it themselves but still have a feeling of what they want. I have been seeing this way and doing this all of my life. This is not something that can be taught, but is something that comes natively and naturally and my work and client satisfaction shows that. I have been working professionally for nearly 20 years. I attended Tennessee Technological University, Cookville for Fine Arts in 95-97 and left school to pursue an opportunity working in a hand painted tile studio, where I worked for several years. My career pathway in interior design evolved organically from there as opportunities arose for me to help others in their homes, doing work similiar to what I had done in my own home. My education is always ongoing and I am currently enrolled in Sketchup for Interior Designers Certification program.
