FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Monthly Tuition: Instead of a per-lesson rate, I charge a flat rate of 4 lessons per month with no deductions for missed lessons. Once per quarter there are 5 weeks in a month. If you choose/need to miss a lesson in a quarter, you will have it built in. I am committed to offering the highest level of instruction to my students and do not want my students to miss out on any of their valuable instruction. This is why it’s so important to insure their scheduled lesson time is protected as much as possible. Student Cancelation: Due to my limited availability, makeup lessons are very difficult, and are not guaranteed. Depending on the schedules of both parties, we can try to schedule a makeup lesson, or a Skype/FaceTime lesson, as long as 24 hours notice is given in the event that a parent or student needs to cancel. Teacher Cancelation: If the teacher cancels due to weather, family grievances, sick or personal days, lessons for the month will be either pro-rated, made up in person, or through a FaceTime lesson. Parents will be notified in the event of a cancellation. Recital Fee(s): There is a recital fee of $25 per family to help cover all recital expenses. Are There Times During the Year When the Teacher Takes Lessons Off? Lessons will be taken off during the two weeks of Christmas and New Year. Discontinuing Lessons: Upon discontinuing lessons, I will need a minimum of 30 days notice in order to stop the billing cycle.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My typical process in working with a new customer is to assess their background knowledge and skill in piano, and to identify the goals my clients have so that we begin to pursue the accomplishing of those goals with the type of instruction given. I want my clients to be happy with the direction they are going so this initial step is important because it gives us vision and direction.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As I mentioned previously, I have had classical instruction myself for 15+ years, and composed original work for the past 10 years. In addition, I have had my own piano studio for seven years, and have a degree in music.
