FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do not charge for in-home estimates or consultation. There is no extra charge for picking up building materials except for large orders that require distributor delivery, in which case the client is responsible for the delivery charge. Pricing varies from project to project but is based on a $36.00 per hour rate for carpentry labor. Projects with multiple and more advanced tasks such as building custom cabinets, furniture, door/windows and mill-work have individual rates.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get as much information from my customers as possible on the front end before traveling to give estimates. Typically i am available the next day after we speak to give in-home estimates and can produce material/labor costs within 24 hours. For projects under $1000.00 I do not require any payment up-front other than material costs. I ask for payment when the work has been completed. For projects over $1000.00 i sometimes ask for a third of the labor cost upon beginning the project and delivering materials, with the balance being paid upon completion.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All my experience is hands on, having served as an apprentice to three different master carpenter's in the first seven years of my 15 year career. I have worked on homes ranging from single family residences in working class neighborhoods to multi-million dollar homes on the coast of California.
