- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Personal trainers are required to get re-certified every two years or we can take "continuing education" classes for points towards our re-certification. These continuing education classes include yoga, pilates, kickboxing, silver sneakers and even nutritional based classes. Each trainer must take a certain number of classes totaling a collective number of points therefore we are always learning and growing within our field to better serve and support our clients.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After years of self pity from being left immobile by a car accident I decided it was time to stop wallowing and get up and do something. I bought a Groupon for Texas Fit Chicks and started my 5 week journey. By the end of that 5 weeks I had totally changed the way I ate, the way I thought and I looked and felt better than I had in years. I had lost roughly 10lbs but I had dropped body fat and I had muscles I hadn't had in years and I had developed stamina. I wasn't tired all the time and working out actually gave me energy. I felt so amazing I wanted everyone to feel the way I did so I decided to become a trainer myself and a few months later I was teaching my own Texas Fit Chicks boot camp!
