FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Being a member of several business organizations that cater to my industry - there are always seminars and classes going on during trade-shows and on the web. Staying up to date is pretty critical, as technology makes things move in our industry almost as fast as it does for computers and phones. Some of the organizations also award certifications for certain levels of education received over time, so that is some great recognition as well - as it is not easy to attain those hours needed to meet the requirements.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I print quite a large number of business cards (plus some design / logo work, if they don't have it or an old card with no graphics file), brochures, and banners at the moment. In laser engraving, it's a lot of items being personalized like pens, cutting boards, plaques, and awards. For promo products - pens and koozies seem to be the top seller; as they are inexpensive and easily printed with logo's and more. For apparel - we do a lot of t-shirts with custom printing fro some of the local restaurants and businesses; as Genesis offers some of the lowest prices around on ALL its products.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Don't look for cheapest price. Like the old axiom says - "You get what you pay for!" Also don't overpay either. Many laser shops start off the quoting by charging a set-up fee; which may be necessary if the project requires a lot of setup work. Many projects do not really require major set-up work and so no need to pay for something you're not using. Don't expect free either. We are like all other business owners and craftsmen - we like to get paid for our work and sometimes what looks really simple is not. There are many things a laser engraver or designer has to do to even get to the end of the process that customers do not see or think of needing to be done. All of this requires "time" and time is money to all of us; so the need to charge for services rendered.
