Doug was very professional and knew what he was doing. I had him install a 42" flat screen TV above my daughter's fireplace in her new home and he was truly outstanding. My daughter said he was there about 40 minutes and had it done. Thank you Doug for being a true professional. He was very reasonable on the price as well. Keep up the great work Doug.

This company is superb! From working with zach to make the appointment and going over all expectations to having Matt show up on time and very professional and work diligently to mount our flat screen a over our fireplace. Matt was awesome at giving us several options and going over all pricing for each option. Then he worked hard to make our wires as less noticeable as possible. I would highly recommend these guys! Great pricing and very professional! Thanks zach and Matt!

Three words sum my opinion with Mr. Ed Thomas and his team: Integrity, experience and professionalism. The guys came and put my 60 inch flat screen less than 3 hours after I called. There was an issue with the wiring (I needed a longer one) - they gladly ran to the store to buy and install it. Their customer service is a very remarkable story to write home about. I highly recommend this company! May O.

Where do I start with the phenomenal service that we received?! Once Reggie arrived, he politely asked if I would like him to remove his shoes which goes a long way to show respect in a home, especially a brand new one! Reggie surveyed the house and made sure that he understood what we wanted and expected of him. The detail and time that was taken in the beginning really showed that Reggie was not going to rush the job just to make a quick buck, but he realizes the importance of reassuring the customer that everything will be done 100% accurately. Reggie grabbed his tools from his truck and began working on the (4) flat screen TV's and (2) electrical outlet installs. In the middle of the install, my fiance (7 months pregnant) was very hungry and we did not have our food items in the home yet. Reggie overheard her comment and quickly came over and said, Chris go ahead and take her to get something to eat and I will head out and let me know when you are on the way back. (that really meant a lot to us that he would stop what he was doing to accommodate us) After we got back home the AT&T service man that was connecting our cable/internet even enlisted the help of Reggie because he could not mount my router/wireless receiver the way I wanted it. LOL All the TV's and outlets came out perfect and just the way we imagined it to look. Reggie even mounted our cable boxes behind the TV's for a clean look and feel! Amazing! Did I mention that Reggie brought his own power vac and cleaned up after himself! After the project was complete Reggie double and triple checked all his work and tested all the TV's to ensure everything was operating correctly. I am truly impressed, and look forward to adding surround sound in my family room and speakers on my patio. And you know who I'm going to call!

I bought a gas oven from an online retailer and needed to find someone who would install it locally. Juan Ornelas bid on the job saying he needed more information, and then coordinated with me to find a time to look over the job. He made sure it would fit before I ordered the oven. Then he gave me a quote that was very reasonable--much less than what install.com would have charged. When the oven was delivered, Juan said he could be there the very next morning to install it. He brought another guy, and they had it hooked up in a short time. What helped me out a ton is that they did some carpentry to fill a hole in the floor that would have let vermin into the house. I know Sears or Lowes installers wouldn't have done that, and I would have had to find a carpenter. So all in all I was super pleased with Juan Ornelas and would recommend him highly. I now have a handyman for small jobs and will call on him again soon.

My husband and I are very grateful for the value of work, and interest Derek presented to us. Derek is very deliverable/honest and knowledgeable about what he does. Didn’t take him anytime to mount to nice size flat screen televisions. I will definitely be utilizing his services again/referring his services.

I hired Texas Techs to mount my flat screen TV. The two guys that mounted the TV were friendly and efficient. I had my TV mounted in, at most, fifteen minutes! It is perfectly aligned where I wanted it and they brought extra lag bolts to help secure it. My only concern is I have not received a receipt for the $60 in cash or any indication that they consider the books cleared on their end.

Brian was professional and friendly. He wall-mounted our 60" flat screen but also spent extra time visiting with my husband about his goals for sound in our living room. He made excellent suggestions and we plan to hire him again for additional installations.

We had a ceiling fan installed. He did a free estimate, and did the job for the price estimated, even though it was a little more work than anticipated. He arrived on time, and finished within 2 hours. For a little extra money, he mounted a flat screen TV on the wall too.

All I can say it, Ken is a true professional. We had a pretty big job--putting together and mounting a backlit wall panel for a 75 inch TV, along with the TV itself--and I was worried about it being done correctly. Ken gave us a fair quote, came in, and did excellent work, making sure that each step was to our satisfaction. I highly recommend him, and will hire him again.

One tv needed to be mounted & Mr. Coleman did a great job. After seeing his great work, I hired him to re-mount two flat screens someone else had installed incorrectly in the past. He did an outstanding job & hid all the wires properly. Great work, would not hesitate to hire again!

In 2003 David Jeter helped me design a very large moveable flat screen TV Console for The Oaks Fellowship Church, Red Oak, TX. We collaborated on cabinet dimensions/specs, I created the drawings/details, and others built the cabinet, on casters. David outfitted the Console with the TV, speakers and all necessary apparatus. There were secure storage compartments for video DVD'S in front and equipment access in back of the cabinet. I don't recall any area we would have changed the design details or specs. The end product was professional, functional and aesthetic. David performed with excellence and completeness. Thanks, David.

Justin was efficient and very professional. We had him change out ceiling fans, indoor and outdoor lighting. At the ladt minute, I asked him to work on a built-in cabinet that need repairs to accommodate our large flat screen TV, and it came out much better than I thought! We already have other jobs lining up. Thank you Justin!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who wall mounts TVs?

Electricians, handymen and TV installation specialists may all provide television mounting services. The person who does the mounting should be qualified and knowledgeable about basic construction concepts as well as working with audiovisual cables. In general, no specialized certificates are required to provide television mounting services, but as always do your diligence and make smart hiring decisions.

It’s important to find an experienced professional who will ensure the TV wall mount meets building code. Most regions have fire codes that don’t permit high-voltage power cords behind walls (low-voltage wires like HDMI and video cables are generally acceptable). A basic wall mount on drywall may take approximately one to two hours, while more complex mounts on brick or stone with hidden cables can take three or more hours. If you need more electrical outlets installed near your entertainment system, you may want to hire an electrician. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

What should you do with a broken LCD TV?

Nationally, the average price range for TV repair is $60-$90. LCD TV repairs are one of the most common TV repair requests. A liquid crystal display (LCD) TV uses the same technology as your smartphone and most computer screens. Images are created on an LCD screen by electric currents that pass or block light through liquid crystals that are encased between two polarized, glass-like sheets. LCD TVs can be very thin and are relatively affordable, making them one of the most prevalent types of TV on the market. If you have a broken LCD TV, it can probably be repaired. Common problems that can be repaired include a blank screen, sound issues, power problems and digital connection problems. Here is one example of LCD TV repair cost:

  • 55-inch Samsung LCD TV repair: $150, including parts and labor
    • The LCD was intermittently powering up and powering off. The main circuit board was removed and replaced.

Can you fix a flat screen TV?

Yes, you can usually fix a flat screen TV. Whether you have a plasma, LED, OLED, HDR, HD or even LCD, TV repair pros can repair your TV. Flat screen TVs are expensive, and when they stop working it can make your heart stop. But TV repair technicians have advanced along with TV technology and are equipped with the proper tools and training for major and minor repairs. If your flat screen is too massive to transport, most repair companies have pickup and drop-off service. For the most common problems, TV repair pricing might range between $175 and $200 on average. Here are examples of the most common problems:

  • Power problems: The TV won’t turn on or will not stay on once started.
  • Digital problems: All connections are in place but you’re not receiving any signal.
  • Sound problems: There is no sound, the volume doesn’t respond to attempts to raise or lower it, or the volume is inconsistent.
  • Screen problems: The TV is on but there is no picture.

How much does it cost to mount a TV?

Elevate your home style with television mounting services. The national average price for television mounting services ranges between $100 and $130. Factors that can affect cost are the material of the wall you want the TV mounted on, whether you want the wires hidden, and any additional entertainment system connection you desire. It probably costs more to mount a TV on brick, stone or concrete than on drywall or plaster due to the added labor required to drill holes. For example, a company may charge an additional $99 to mount a TV on a brick wall. Here are some examples of average costs for television mounting services:

  • Basic TV wall mount: $40. Does not include bracket, device connection or strip management.
  • TV wall mount: $119. Includes bracket, mounting services, strip management system (for concealing external wires), and connection of all entertainment devices.
  • TV wall mount with wires hidden inside wall: $139.
  • Installation of additional electrical outlet: $65.
  • TV wall mount over fireplace with wires hidden: $179-$249.
  • TV wall mount and up to 5 speakers wall-mounted with hidden wires: $399.

How much does it cost to repair a TV?

If your TV isn’t working, don’t despair. TV repair professionals can handle almost any situation, no matter how new or outdated your TV’s technology. The national average TV repair cost is $50-$90, although prices can be higher based on the type of TV and the work required. Because most TVs today are much too large to transport in an ordinary car, many companies provide transportation services for an added fee. Here are some examples of average TV repair costs for specific problems and TV models:

  • 65-inch Sony DLP TV repair cost: $275, including parts and labor.
    • Removed old light engine and bulb and installed new.
  • 42-inch Sanyo Plasma TV repair cost: $200, including parts and labor.
    • Multiple circuit boards had gone bad in the TV. Technicians installed a new Y-SUS sustain buffer board and an X main board.
  • 55-inch Samsung LCD TV repair cost: $150, including parts and labor.
    • The LCD was intermittently powering up and powering off. Replacing the main circuit board solved the problem.
