David came on a Sunday within 30 minutes of my call. I have had 7 other HVAC professionals look at my system over the past 5 yrs, and none of them have diagnosed the intermittent root problem. David, however, is a highly skilled professional HVAC mechanic who is very knowledgable and competent, and was not only able to quickly diagnose the problem, he made the repairs just as fast. Due to having worked as an Operations Manager for a Heating & A/C company, I was able to discern that David was also ethical and honest, and not trying to charge me for unneeded repairs; he even showed me the evidence of the root problem that the 7 other qualified HVAC mechanics had missed. David obviously has strong diagnostic skills allowing him to quickly discern the problem and his 30 + yrs of experience gives the ability to do the repairs in a short time, and his fees were very reasonable. Finally, having previously hired and fired HVAC mechanics, it was obvious to see that David loved what he does for a living....a strong plus when you have someone working on your expensive A/C system. Not only have I finally found a great HVAC mechanic, I will recommend him to everyone I know with A/C problems.

This is the most insensitive group of individuals i have ever met. I put $2000 down to get a new Hvac unit. However, I had some unforeseen issues to occur. The money I put down i needed to pay for my son's funeral. Furthermore, I was still to get it finance in July after I got my son's funeral paid off. The service manager never returned my after the clerk said that he would have him call me back. My wife and she were told the same exact thing. The Hvac service manager never contacted either of us after a week and a half. This has really put a bad taste in my mouth....

They promptly sent someone to evaluate things with my HVAC, and the gentleman was proactive about identifying the source of the problem and making a suggestion. Derrick and Chris just left. They fixed our problems on the first visit and charged us 3% of the estimate from the other company. We will have them back twice each year to do service maintenance on our HVAC and plumbing systems. If something breaks, they will be our first call. These are two of the most pleasant guys - it was fun meeting them. Andreas, their woman behind the scenes, was awesome, as well. She kept us updated on their arrival time. We couldn’t be happier.

Julio initially got the job because he was very knowledgeable, asked the right questions, and proposed "fixing" our A/C rather than replacing it. Another HVAC service recommended replacing it for the cost of 6K-11K, even though our system was relatively new. Julio diagnosed the problem differently and correctly, fixed the leak, and now our AC works perfectly. He saved us big time. He's also courteous and punctual and can think "out of the box" to save you from paying for another box.

Daniel responded to my inquiry lighting fast and was able to come out same day on one of the hottest days of the summer to help us sort out an issue with our HVAC system. My issue had to do with the thermostat just turning off and the AC stopping for hours at a time, seemingly randomly. Not only was he able to identify the problem in mere minutes, he explained the issue clearly, gave me some tips to prevent it in the future, and took the time to show me what he saw when there was something I was curious about. The HVAC went out in one of my homes that I rent out. I didn’t know what to do because I don’t live in the DFW metro area anymore. I found Vy’s Mechanical on Thumbtack and message them. Bryan Vy reached out to me and was able to respond to the address at the soonest time someone could meet him there. The system was 20 years old and needed replacing. He was able to have a system installed the very next morning and gave me a very fair price. The pictures of the unit looked great after installation. I was having issues with my AC compressor not turning on. Brian responded to my call late in the evening and was able to stop by the next day, early in the morning. He diagnosed the problem and quoted me a fix for a reasonable price. The AC is back on and everything is working correctly. 10/10, would recommend. Update 05/10/25: This fix did not fix the issue. He came back a second time and replaced another part. The problem persisted. After which his responses dwindled out to no response. I ended up having to go with another HVAC company. Diagnosed the issue and fixed it in less than 15mins. Brian is good, but he just might need more time and experience to get better at his craft. 5/5 --> 3/5.

Very disappointed with the service I received. They installed a new HVAC unit without even checking the existing ductwork, which turned out to be extremely dirty. This resulted in a strong odor coming through the vents. When I called to report the issue, their only solution was to use an odor blocker, which obviously didn’t fix the underlying problem and the smell came back. After following up again, they finally checked the ducts and confirmed they were dirty and needed to be cleaned—something that should have been done before the installation. Now they’re trying to charge me for the diagnostic, even though I was the one who identified the issue, and they also want to charge for cleaning. I’ve been calling for the past two weeks with no action taken and no follow-up. This entire experience has been frustrating and careless. I truly regret choosing this company.

Rowland is great! Very professional and personable. He reached out to me to bid on my a/c project to have refrigerant added and the evaporator coils cleaned, and his price quote was excellent. He and a colleague were able to come check things out the next evening and he diagnosed a capacitor issue just by hearing the system in action (I feared it was the blower, but he tested and swapped out the capacitor and that did the trick). He got everything up and running in about 90 minutes. He charged a flat fee plus parts, as opposed to an hourly rate. He was happy to provide me with his license number and references ahead of time and responded to messages quickly, even after-hours. He’s new to Thumbtack but has experience working with home warranty companies. I highly recommend talking to him about your HVAC needs. I will call him next time I need help with my a/c or furnace.

I contacted Vy’s mechanical late one evening because my AC was not cooling. Bryan indicated that if the system is not holding Freon it would probably need to be replaced and asked if I could send a photo of the tag on the unit. I did and from the tag he could see that it used R-22 refrigerant which is obsolete. He offered an alternative and gave me a quick estimate, which I accepted. The next day Brian arrived and upon examining the unit determined that the capacitor was out so he replaced that and the unit started cooling. He also had looked at the air handler and noted that the drain line wasn’t correct so he cut a piece of pvc to fix that to ensure that its works as designed to keep water pushed down the drain line. By the time he did that, the temperature inside had dropped 2 degrees and he was satisfied that it was working properly. The cost was about 10% less than adding refrigerant and reasonable for the service. I made some notes in his contact info in my contacts and will give Bryan Vy a call next time I need HVAC service. He’s an Arlington resident so I was happy to be supporting local small business.
