FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
At least $25 nonrefundable to book. 5% fee for checks (we apologize but when you have had a few bounce, you go right to the bank to deposit immediately after and that takes more time) Normally, on jobs costing more than $500 in labor, we can give a 10% discount if paid in cash if paid the same day. If you are not a "preferred client", it will be $100 for first hour during business hours. This hour starts when we arrive WE DO NOT CHARGE TRIP FEES or DIAGNOSTIC FEES If it's an emergency or over the weekend, it will be double. However, most emergencies can be remedied -at least partly- in one hour and we can give you an estimate on long term fix if needed. All contracts are to be paid immediately after job is done. To schedule a job larger than $500, we need a down payment as consideration to accepting the terms of our contract.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to ask them a lot of questions. Understanding a client's priorities before starting any project is imperative. In construction (especially rehabs), there are a lot of variables and normally you can't know for sure what's behind a wall until you dig into it. So getting the client's vision clearly before any work is done is key so we can work on a plan of attack together more efficiently .
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Well, at 14, I was the boy that rode his bike around the neighborhood to look for unkempt lawns and knock on the door to ask if I could mow it. If they didn't answer I'd put a home made card on their door with a note. This is before cell phones btw. :) I got really busy doing all kinds of odd jobs for folks when I wasn't working as the maintenance man for the huge church and private school my parents worked at. Before I was 18, I worked for a roofing company, a demolition/rehab company, etc... By the time I was 26, I started flipping foreclosure properties. When the economy took a dive, I started managing and maintaining properties -and I still do- but I really like working with my hands, getting dirty, feeling the sun on my redneck :),... and making things beautiful way better than sitting behind a computer. Just my preference. Experience? Just call me and ask if I've done it before if you want. :) and then let me ask you some questions about the job that come from experience. :)
