She's been the best dog sitter we've ever had. She is super knowledgeable and loving towards our dog, Lily. We will continue to go to her for all of our pet sitting needs.

I am happy to write the first review for Ms. Reese. Our experience with her was superb. We have used many dog-sitters before and they have never been as happy and relaxed when we came home as this time. Our dogs, also, are a bit finicky with new people. They absolutely loved Carrie. We have already requested her service for another trip, and will continue to do so in the future.

Shani was great from start to finish! The meet and greet was a breeze (my cat actually liked her!), and I felt totally comfortable leaving my cat in her care while I was away. Every time she came over, I received updates and pictures of my fur baby. Shani provided all the services I needed, and for a great value. She was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I would highly recommend ATX Super Sitters for anyone who needs a pet sitter!

Faith was a life saver for us when our pet sitter backed out last minute. We were able to relax and enjoy our vacation knowing our pups were being taken care of. Faith updated us throughout the day so we never had to ask how they were doing. We will definitely be using Pamper Ur Pet again.

Samantha and Julie were great! We contacted Premier Pet TLC as the first on our list of possible sitters and we didn't have to look any further! From our first meet & greet, Samantha went out of her way to gain the trust of our loving fur babies. We had them come twice a day to walk our dog, change litter, and feed everybody, and stay overnight for 4 nights so our animals wouldn't get lonely. Samantha went above and beyond with our youngest cat, Toby, who has confidence issues. By the end of her stay, our normally very shy boy was coming out of his safe place to investigate and show her some love at dinner time. Their online portal is fantastic to use and makes it easy to schedule future visits. Through the portal, we were sent progress reports after each visit, which included photos and updates on how everybody was doing. We even got special Mother's Day greeting photos from each of our adorable pets! We loved Premier Pet TLC so much, that it was a joy to accept Samantha's offer for a behavioral session with Toby to help work on his kitty confidence, and we very much look forward to it. We will now always recommend Premier Pet TLC to anybody who asks, and if we could give an even higher rating we absolutely would. If you're looking for a caring sitter to take care of your pets while you're away, there is no better choice!

Savannah’s Pet Care

Savannah cared for my dog and cat multiple times over the course of a year. She continually impressed me with her professionalism and her care for my fur babies. I never had to wonder if they were ok even while overseas and out of contact. Savannah took the time everyday to send me a multitude of photos and gave me a full report of each of her visits. My dog is very particular with people but he loved spending time with Savannah because she took the time to understand and work with him (he can be a bit anxious at times). I, unfortunately, moved away from the area a few months ago and I haven’t found a new pet sitter yet that I (and Porter and Stout) can say is as great.

Not only was Nikki very professional, but she also pays attention to detail. I have a special needs fur baby with severe anxiety and she requires lots of attention or she will literally poop everywhere, tear up anything in site and overall display negative behavior. I had a business trip and was out of town for a few days and required someone that could watch her at my house as she would not be comfortable at a strangers home. I entrusted Nikki with my loved one and she exceeded all expectations, following all detailed instructions (Feeding, walks, advice on care, and activity) given and I would recommend her to anyone that requires a trustworthy dog sitter!! She’s truly a blessing!!

I have been taking lessons at Sterling Hunter Jumpers Stable for over a year. I have loved every minute of it and have grown so much in my riding ability during this short period of time. My 8 year old daughter has also taken lessons and attended their summer camp. She loves going to Sterling! As a parent, I 100% trust that my daughter is in good hands. The owners, Erin and Johnny, are extremely knowledgeable and always have each rider's safety and best interest in mind. Sterling has riders of all levels and Erin works diligently to train each rider based upon their individual skill level. She truly cares about her students and goes above and beyond for them. Erin and Johnny take amazing care of all animals on the property. This level of care is exemplified by the top quality of the horses that are used for lessons. They are not typical "lesson horses". Sterling horses are well trained, safe and teach their riders how to be better equestrians. There are different horses for all riding levels. Erin works with each rider to pair them with the perfect horse for their abilities. Sterling has a very friendly and welcoming environment that makes coming to the barn a nice escape from the daily grind. I could go on and on listing many more reasons why Sterling is a great place to ride. But in a nutshell, if you're looking for a well run barn with knowledable trainers that keep safety and progression of equestrian skills as their top priority, this is the place for you!!

There are not enough positive words to describe our experience. We had had a very traumatic experience with a dog sitter and had not been able to go on vacation. Our dogs are spoiled on top of that. We needed a blessing and we found Jade. She kept us up to date on them, sent pics, our house was very clean, the dogs were happy when we returned. We plan to keep Jade and go on more vacations.

I have been riding with Beth for about 6 months. She is fantastic. She challenges me and my horse during our lessons and has helped us to become a better team. Beth knows what her students and their equine partners need. She has a keen eye and always keeps it interesting. I highly recommend her for both advanced riders as well as beginners! Adults and children too! So happy I found her.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

        • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
        • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
          • 45-minute visit: $28.
          • 60-minute visit: $32.
        • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
        • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
          • 12 hours: $100.
          • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
