I was a stay at home mom looking to re-enter the workforce. I hired Greg to help me brush up on my interviewing skills. It was so worth it! He was a great coach and very generous with his time. He taught me how to relax, effectively answer hard questions and overcome my fear of interviews. Most of all he genuinely wanted to help me. I'm happy to say that his help paid off. I did great in my interview and got the job that was right for me.

  • Counseling Services

    Kathryn Armstrong, MA, LPC

    (32 reviews)

I am a licensed professional counselor, and I work with adolescents, adults, couples and families in my private practice at The Spicewood Forest Office Park, located at 4131 Spicewood Springs Rd., Ste. H2, Austin, TX 78759. My husband and I have been married for 33 years and have lived in Austin since 1995. I am the mother of two grown sons and a grandmother of four. As a result, I bring a lifetime of experience to my practice in addition to my professional training. Everyone, at some time in life, needs a safe place where they can share what is in their heart without fear of judgement. As a result, I believe that counseling ought to be available to everyone, not just the wealthy or those with insurance who can cover the costs. My desire is to provide quality and private counseling experience at a price that is affordable. I work with all mood and anxiety disorders, both emotional and behavioral issues; however, the majority of my practice is involved with relational counseling, both premarital for engaged couples or for couples seriously dating and considering engagement and marriage counseling, both for those wanting their marriage to be better and for those wanting to avoid divorce. I am an approved counselor with the "Twogether in Texas" program. This program allows engaged couples to waive the cost and the 3-day waiting period associated with their marriage license if they finish 8 hours of premarital counseling with an approved counselor. I also work with troubled adolescents and their families and with adults of all ages. A more complete listing of services that I provide may be found on my website. I am also certified in EMDR, which is a technique that was first developed to help combat veterans with post traumatic stress disorder but has since been found to be useful with all forms of trauma, anxiety, phobias, drug addictions, and chronic pain among other issues. My service dog, a beautiful Papillion that attended me for 8 of my 15 years of disability, now assists me in my practice in helping to bring comfort and joy to all clients.

    (8 reviews)

I came in for couples counseling with my wife, which is a tough thing to start. This was our first time seeing a counselor, and Melody was really welcoming and helped us feel a little more relaxed. We were pretty nervous, but Melody was so great in helping us get started talking. She is an amazing listener and is very patient. Her questions really made me think and helped put things in a different perspective. She made difficult topics a lot more manageable. Highly recommended!

  • Relationship Counseling

    Daniel Brake, LMFT

    (1 reviews)

You are looking for help, because your fights are getting out of hand, or have become gridlocked and repetitive. Or there has been a betrayal of trust, and you don't know how to get back to normal. You often feel like you have to walk on egg-shells, or that the fights seem to come out of nowhere. You want to change the pattern, but maybe you don't know what to do. I can help you create the relationship you want. I provide Gottman Method Couples Therapy, specializing in high-conflict relationships and affair recovery. The Gottman Method provides a research validated approach to improving your relationship. Decades of observation of thousands of couples have provided insight into the types of behaviors, interactions and communication styles that build (or rebuild) trust and lead to a long-lasting and deeply satisfying relationship. That same research has also identified behaviors likely to create feelings of distress, interfere with communication and ultimately decrease relationship satisfaction. To this I add meditative and mindfulness-based techniques that have been clinically shown to decrease stress and reactivity while increasing compassion and understanding. No one is handed the perfect relationship. Staying together and staying in love takes a lot of hard work--and a particular set of skills few of us were gifted with. Luckily, they are skills we can all learn. I can help you learn to disarm damaging conflict, to bridge gaps in understanding and compassion, and to create the intentional practices that will give you the relationship you've always wanted. For couples contemplating marriage, I teach an 8-hour prepare/enrich relationship course that will qualify for a $60 credit toward your Texas marriage license. I also work with many individuals to help them create the healthy boundaries and behavior patterns that will get them a more fulfilling and satisfying life. If you struggle with issues such as stress, anger, depression, anxiety or an inability to create a rewarding relationship, I can help you identify what is getting in your way and to create the change you want.

Clients get a mega dose of understanding and compassion in my office -- a safe, accepting place where you can be the real you. You'll leave sessions having gained real problem-solving skills and practical knowledge to immediately apply to your life. I see individuals, couples, and families.
