FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates are $110 for the first session. The session is usually 1.5 to 2 hours, and includes around 30 minutes of assessment/intake. Subsequent sessions are $85 per session (around 1.5 hours). I prorate (up to $60) if the session is shorter. Maintenance massage (only for current clients) is $70 for an hour or so. The purpose if to gently re-balance the body, not address complex problems. I appreciate your thoughtfulness, but I prefer not to be tipped. Please use it for future sessions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to some basic upkeep on reading journals/research, and participating in discussions on LinkedIn, I usually take extensive/indepth training every year. The training usually is hands on for 1-2 weeks at a minimum, followed by a great deal of internship. I rarely take weekend types of courses any more. At the moment PRRT, DNM (taking it in San Diego in Jan 2014), Emmett Technique, and Fascial Approaches by Stecco are on my wish list. The first three address improving dysfunction by working with the nervous system.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I help people reduce or eliminate pain, and improve function/posture. Both chronic and short term problems are addressed. My work is accomplished with the client in a safe, relaxed, comfortable state. My solution is to balance the body in every session, and then work one of two small parts of the issue. I wait for the body to absorb the changes, re assess the situation next time - and repeat/fine-tune the process. I have had better results letting the body slowly accommodate change and fine tune the improvements, rather than rushing the solution. More importantly, the results last much longer. Most (not all) of my sessions are done with the client clothed (cotton Tshirt and thin shorts) .
