Great experience working with Fina and Crew. Honest, trustworthy which says a lot since I deal with contractors everyday for work.Jun 8, 2017Verified
I had ROSS refresh my bathroom, including installing new fixures and some general wall repair. They did a great job and got it done in the estimated time frame. The worked very hard to make every detail perfect. Quality work, I'd hire them again!Aug 18, 2016Verified
I needed someone to paint the exterior of our 1940 house. I wanted a contractor willing to remove as much of the old, peeling paint as possible, and the big painting outfits are just not interested in doing this amount of prep work. I got five bids, and Fina Ross of ROSS Painting Contracting stood out to me from the start. As we walked around my house the first time, I noticed immediately her extreme attention to detail. She expressed concern about the various ways our house wasn't sealed against water and educated me on how she suggested correcting this prior to painting. Although I was also very interested in one other contractor, I chose Fina because she said she "really wants to give people what they want." I believed her, and she delivered on this promise. Fina worked hard to organize crews to powerwash, scrape, and sand the original wood siding. She made sure her guys filled every nook and cranny before painting. I also had Fina replace the trim around the windows. When the old trim was removed, Fina discovered that there was no insulation around any of the windows. She paused in the work to purchase what she needed to insulate the windows before replacing the trim. Once Fina addressed this unexpected need, it made a huge difference in reducing the street noise coming into our house. Throughout the project, we ran into unexpected bumps, and Fina did an excellent job of proposing the most cost-effective solutions that would also retain or add value to our home. I will not hesitate to hire Fina again for other home projects.Jun 4, 2018Verified
The reason to hire a contractor instead of just hiring painters directly is for the management skills and quality control process of the contractor. This contractor, Fina Ross is not a good project manager. She has absolutely no process for inspecting the work of her painters. That will be your job. They broke one of my wooden blinds. Her response was, "It happens". The blinds broke because the painters knotted the cords and then pulled on them when knotted. This tightens the knot and then snaps the cord. Four weeks later, I am still waiting for Fina to tell me when she will reinstall the repaired blind. My company arrives on Wednesday. I continue to contact her and still have no answer. I spent $12,500 with her. I paid her in full at each stage as she asked for money. She complained that her painters had not been paid for two weeks, even though I paid her promptly at three intervals. I even paid her the whole amount for the final payment even though I could have withheld payment for the broken blind. Fina is very good at talking! If you are looking for someone really good at sales and genera; conversation, then hire Fina Ross. Otherwise, beware, beware, beware.Nov 22, 2015VerifiedROSS Painting Contracting's reply
Sometimes there are situations where customers are their own worst enemy, and in all kindness I refrain from posting a list of problems with this project. The complaint she has is not about the quality of the painting in the entire two stories, including ceilings, all doors and trims, and every wall in the home on which she was compelled to sample 25 different colors on every single wall after we had started the job, holding up each and every phase with unreasonable indecision. Instead, her complaint is that blinds strings were knotted, but I personally wrapped the entire first floor blinds with tape to keep them untangled. I personally untangled as many as I found while were being reinstalled. The blind cord that broke already had a knot tied from having snapped previously, and when the cord broke once more while were adjusting after reinstalling them she expected us to be responsible. We have ordered the blind whose string broke due to 7 yrs of age to be restrung at our expense, but the time of year did not allow us to return to install it before the Holidays. otherwise most of her complaint is unfounded, particularly about not answering her calls or texts. An unfortunate case of customer disgruntlement, that no amount of common courtesy can remedy. I am a consummate professional, always, and I will always go the extra yard to help people do things I am not paid for. I put $1,500 of my personal funds into this project to try to make this customer happy doing things that were not in the extensively detailed contract~
Fina Ross guided us through a major remodel of our master bath, giving us the unique, old world style retreat that we always wanted. We love it every day. We have even had visitors who come back to our house with friends just to show them our bathroom. Other contractors lacked the vision, creativity, artistry and know how help us, and Fina Ross stood out right away as a contractor willing to go the extra mile and bring ingenuity, craftsmanship, and cost-consciousness to a big project. She spent hours walking us through choices and drawing sketches until we had exactly the look we wanted. She wraps design skills into every step of her projects at no extra charge, and that alone puts her head and shoulders above the rest. Additionally, she is relentlessly committed to customer satisfaction. She took every one of our phone calls, responded ot all emails, made herself available for meetings at any time that was convenient for us, AND applied the same level of service to the few minor issues we had after the job was finished and after she and been fully paid.Oct 6, 2015
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My extensive experience with all aspects of remodeling give me great insights into pricing affordable solutions. I offer each project my best work, and craft the costs based on size, difficulty, and surface quality. I am open to work with all budget limitations ~ I create an original Excel spreadsheet for each job with line item lists of all concepts with costs, in the sequence that would be followed for process to unfold with clarity for each customer to see in a simple format.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I ask lots of questions, suggest ideas, do research as needed, and welcome all photos and images to assist in the style and composition desired.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have years of experience, a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art through the University of Texas at Austin, and completed Post graduate courses in Watercolor through Texas State in San Marcos, as well as self study and practice in my craft and collection.
