Such a fantastic experience! I've hired several tree trimmers over the past 8 years of living in this house. This was far and away the best company I've worked with. I really wish I could give them more than 5 stars.

Jeff trimmed my sago palm and left her beautiful, and after that he even trimmed some of my trees and gave me some tips all for a very reasonable price. He is very a nice and professional person. I already gave his card to several of my friends.

This is the tree service you need to call first. You'll never contact anyone else. Miguel was prompt, arriving early and was outstanding. His equipment is First Class as is his care for my property. His work was beyond my expectations and he was able to grind out my tree stumps quickly, safely, professionally and skillfully. He is the only one I'll ever contact in the future. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Miguel to serve your tree trimming, etc. needs.

I had a great experience with Lupe's for my palm trees removal. They came earlier than on time, carefully cut the trees piece by piece as took an eye on the lawn, cleaned up everywhere including the neighbor's yard. Moreover, Yazmin speaks English very well. The conversition was easy to access anything that needed. Have already referred to my freinds, and I will definitely work with them again.

On a Friday I requested quotes from tree trimmers, to remove 2 large heavy branches and a dead tree. Very shortly after, I heard from Sam. I sent pictures and he gave me a very fair quote. When I hired him, he asked if I would like him to come that same day, after he finished his other scheduled jobs, or the next morning. I said the next morning would be fine! Sam impressed me and here's why: He wants the work and to be successful, so he goes the extra mile. He was polite (yes ma'am)...even when texting, he showed up on time and did a fantastic job, start to clean up. Nothing was left behind. There was a large low branch we wanted removed & he offered to take another one off, as well. In his opinion, it would look better and "no one would hit their head"! If you'd like to help a hard working, ambitious, polite young man get his company going, Sam's the guy to call! I will only use him from now on! Deb F

A nice looking young man came to my door and asked if I needed any trees trimmed. His company HISEY was in our neighborhood and would be able to give us a lower price because the crews would already be here for the other customers. He said we could have a free estimate. I said , "sure" because I was going to have my trees trimmed in the back this fall. It would be good to have another bid. I received a phone call immediately from Greg Gunderson, He said he could be over the next day. I was skeptical, at first, because who comes door to door anymore and since when does anybody call you back immediately. I figured they were in a real need for business. Greg turned out to be another nice young man who gave me a bid that was half the price I was quoted by the company that trimmed my front trees. Greg pointed out that some of the trees that had been trimmed had not been trimmed completely and asked why I didn't tell the other tree trimmers that they had not finished the job. I was surprised that someone so young would take me to task, but I admired his spunk because he was correct; I should have said something. My defense was ignorance; I did not know anything about tree trimming. He explained what they were going to do to my trees and that if these things were not performed or if they were not performed the way I wanted them to be performed, they would not be paid until I was content with their work. The crew came out and they were led by Jake. Yes, he was another young, knowledgeable man. He told me all about my trees and even found some ants in one of my trees and proceeded to dig them out and spray some foam in the area, so they would not come back. This was just one of may things that were completed at no extra charge in an area they were not trimming. As you can read I was very pleasantly surprised by this group of young, gentlemen who did an incredible job on my trees for half the price I was going to pay this fall. I was also taught an excellent lesson on tree trimming, so I will know what to expect from the next tree trimmer . I think I will stick with HISEY. That way I know I will be getting the job completed correctly.

I initially hired Ortiz Handyman services to cut down a 40 foot tree in our back yard which he did quickly. We were surprised on how fast he was able to finish the job. There was no trace that the tree ever existed. Overall job well done! We were so please with his work that we hired him a second time to cut down a 15ft palm tree in our front yard. Again, he did a fabulous job with mess to clean up. Needless to say, Im pretty needy so we hired him a third time to clean another palm tree that we have, this palm tree had not been maintenced in years so he had his hands full but he did an amazing job and it looks flawless! We have also used him for a more simple task of installing our 32' TV mount. He was courtesy of our home and left no mess behind. The installation was quick and it looks amazing. Dustin made sure we were pleased with his services provided before leaving, he is very professional and we were satisifed with his work every time!!! He is highly recommended and I will be calling him again soon!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
