Bailey C. says, "I recommend for absolutely everybody to work with David and his pool cleaning company. I’ve had the best experience with him and after he deep cleaned a huge mess within my pool and spa, I have already decided that he will be doing the ongoing weekly cleanings and maintenance as well. David has been extremely professional, communicative, and offers his work at very reasonable prices. I was also not able to be at the location when he came to take care of the pool, and I greatly appreciate it his extra communication, phone calls, and video calls to show progress and talk about his work the entire process. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of, and that I was kept in the loop the entire time. I had originally googled local cleaning companies and contacted one I won’t name to take care of my pool cleaning needs. They scheduled to send a cleaner out within a couple days and guaranteed that I would receive before and after pictures and the summary of the visit. One week later, I called them and said that nobody has come by yet and I haven’t received a summary of any visits. Remember, I’m not on location and need good communication to know what is being done. They told me a cleaner had visited the home and inspected the pool and said that it could not receive a regular cleaning, that it needed a deep cleaning and also to be resurfaced. Because of that, the Cleaner sent a referral over to the Construction side of their business. They were surprised no one had reached out and promised somebody would. Again, no one from their company called me for about two days. I called them back and they again we’re sorry that no one had reached out to me. Later that day, the person who went to do the cleaning originally called me and said they recommend resurfacing the pool and that he had sent a referral to their Construction side of the business. I told him as well that I haven’t heard from anyone and he said they will reach out. They still haven’t reached out, it’s been over one month. In that time, I came to Thumbtack and I put out a description of the work needed and three companies visited within 1-2 days and all gave varying quotes. David at David’s Pool Pros gave the best price, he was extremely professional, and he found a leak by the pump which he fixed as well, included in his quote which the others didn’t include or even mention noticing. I was not able to be on location while he worked to address the pool issues and he kept great communication the entire time. We had phone calls and video calls and he sent a text updates about his progress each visit to the home. The pool needed to be drained, the sludge to be shoveled out, the walls to be cleaned to remove the green algae, the pumps to be cleaned and the leak in one of the pumps to be cleaned as well. David was very fast, and was able to start work on it right away. David confirmed that the pool did not need to be resurfaced, that it still has several years to go before it needs such a large job completed, and that saved me between five to $10,000. I appreciated his honesty, especially after the first pool company to check out the pool insisted it would have to be resurfaced before they could help clean it. It just so happens that they also have a Construction branch, which would be doing the resurfacing, which means they would have a lot of financial gain for me going with them. After the deep cleaning, we found that some of the green from the algae couldn’t be removed, even after a chemical washing and David was able to connect me to a great local Pool Painter who is able to start right away. David stayed in touch with that painter to coordinate when he could come back to fill the pool so I wouldn’t have to coordinate between the three of us. David also offers extremely reasonable pricing for regular weekly cleanings and I will be continuing with him with this as well. This includes before and after pictures and information on the chemical readings during each visit. I’m glad to support his local company, and hope more and more people learn about his services and company. Just give them a try and you’ll see the great quality work, competitive pricing and professionalism of David and his team!"See more

What are the advantages of hiring a professional pool inspector?

Hiring a professional swimming pool inspector comes with a number of different benefits. It helps homebuyers and owners understand what condition the pool is in, which will help with purchasing decisions, negotiations or simply budgeting for repairs. A pool inspector can also give an accurate assessment of the pool’s mechanical and electrical processes. Perhaps most important is the ability to detect problems in their infancy, so they don’t become expensive repairs down the road.

How do I hire a pool cleaner?

You can hire a pool cleaner by searching for professionals near you online. Pool cleaning services will range from small businesses to larger companies, so to help you narrow down your search, base your decisions on customer reviews, ratings, customer-uploaded photos and conversations you have with the pool cleaners. Contact at least three different pool cleaners to compare their prices (ask for free cost estimates). And make sure to check licensing requirements in your state to ensure whoever you choose has the proper credentials.

What is the best way to clean your pool?

The best way to clean your pool is to hire a professional for regular service. Oftentimes, signing up for regular, ongoing services will drop the per-visit cost significantly.

Basic pool cleaning services will include skimming off debris, leaves and other materials that have made it into the pool. What chemicals do you need to clean a pool?

The main categories of pool chemicals include sanitizers, oxidizers, water balancers, and specialty chemicals. Sanitizers (like chlorine and bromine) disinfect pool water. Oxidizers are a second type of sanitizing chemical meant to kill bacteria and algae. Water balancers keep the pH (acidity) level of the water in the correct place, as well as maintain the proper “hardness” — that is, levels of calcium and other elements. Other specialty chemicals include clarifiers, flocculant, algaecides and more.

If you don’t know how to properly use pool cleaning chemicals, consider hiring a professional pool cleaner to help you maintain your pool.
