Introduction
I love playing the piano and I love people. Therefore teaching the piano is something that comes easily and brings me great satisfaction. Spending time with other people in front of the piano isn't work, but a duty that I am proud to uphold.

I have just begun working with Michael. He is so very talented and clearly has a passion for the piano. He was able to easily identify the music I am drawn to play, he provided me with some wonderful internet references to facilitate my learning and enjoyment of music, he comes prepared with music that is commensurate with my skill level, and above all Michael has a wonderful teaching style that has rekindled my joy for taking lessons. I highly recommend him!

Having taken piano lessons for 7 years myself as a child, I recognize Michael as an outstanding teacher. Our 12 year old son has been taking lessons with Michael for over a year and a half now and what progress he has made. Michael is very patient and yet firm and I feel that being young, helps him relate to our son better than an older teacher. What I really like is that he allows our son to pursue pieces of music that he interested in instead of always choosing music for him. He is very good at music theory as well. He focused a lot on chords and chord progression giving him a foundation for music. I only wish that my teachers had taught me in this way, if so I might be still playing today. My husband and I are on very busy schedules and Michael has always been very accommodating and flexible. Michael is such a mature, talented young man and we are very pleased that we found him for our son.

Michael played for our holiday party and was great. He was on time and did a great job playing jazz and holiday favorites and some special songs i had requested. i will definitely hire him again and may start taking lessons from him as well.

Our seven year old has been taking lessons with Michael for about a year now. He enjoys the time he spends in lesson, in part because he quickly developed a congenial relationship with Michael that allows Michael to help our grandson focus without seeming overly critical. We find Michael to be patient, often finding different ways to help him grasp a concept, and yet have seen him be firm in his expectations. He has always been professional, calls if there are schedule changes, is open to our concerns and questions, and is very flexible. Our grandson looks forward to his coming each week.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I never stop learning. When I'm not teaching lessons, I am playing the piano for myself or working on a new piece. My relationship with the piano is constantly evolving.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

A piano teacher is here to give you the resources and guide you on your journey to learning the instrument. However, if the student is not willing to put in the work outside of lessons, he/she may never see the results they are looking for. In contrast, a student that works above and beyond is never a bad thing. I have been playing the piano for 12 years and I am still learning things about it everyday. As a new student the best thing you can do is practice as much as possible outside of lessons, and then use your time with the teacher to go over new things. Eventually, a teacher and student will find a pace that works for them.
