Corey was prompt and thorough in all communications, arrived when promised and took a lot of time and paid careful attention to every detail of cleaning my sofa and rug to "like new." I think he's a perfectionist! I like that. He is also a nice fellow. Thanks, Corey!

Chris did an awesome, thorough job on my carpets (5 bedrooms, living area, nook, and stair case). He took the time to do the job right and it shows. The pet stains I once had are completely erased, and the whole house smells fresh and clean. I was on the verge of replacing the carpet, but now with the carpet looking new I can put that project on hold. Chris shared his expert knowledge (20+ years experience) with me at each step. He offered helpful tips to treat future stains myself. When I next get my tile floors cleaned and sealed, I will definitely call this company again. A+

Chris did an AMAZING job cleaning our carpets! He came out on a Saturday morning and got every single stain out--including paint and pet stains. He was also really great with our two (very curious and question filled) children. We will definitely be using him again and I highly recommend him!

We have been had amazing and responsive service with Joseph and BBUFC for the past 4 trips. He is incredibly affordable and one of the friendliest and hardest workers you will ever meet. The floors look like a disaster with our 7 puppies... And it can go to hell even faster. BBUFC has our bedroom carpet looking brand new. Thank you for your hard work you deserve all the 5Star reviews.

Ramiro did an incredible job with several projects. He stripped an antique table, reupholstered a tricky chair, and reupholstered and stripped a sofa with dark wooden arms that are now a lovely honey color. He is professional and prompt and the work is beautiful.

I found Andrew on thumbtack and hired him to clean an antique fainting sofa. The fabric was over 30 years old and had not been cleaned in that length of time. Andrew contacted me several times before he came out, very professional and friendly. He was on time and did an outstanding job. He knows furniture, and antiques in particular, and was able to tell me about the type of fabric on the piece and how best to approach the cleaning. I could not believe the results. What was a dingy, stained, dusty, pet-hair & stain sofa is now a beautiful, renewed, lovely inspiration piece in our bedroom. I will call him when I need carpet cleaning, and I highly recommend Andrew Nixon for your upholstery cleaning needs.

So happy Sears is servicing Austin again! They did a phenomenal job cleaning our tile and grout as well as our sofa and dining room chairs. The technicians were very knowledgeable and efficient. Will be calling them again before the holidays to clean our carpets.

Sam and the team did a really good job not only on the clean but the price too! There are certain places that our other cleaners skipped that Atx Janitorial picked up on like under the office workstation tables, behind the computer monitors and simple stuff like actually cleaning the windows properly. I couldnt be happier and glad to have them as our new regular cleaners.

I wasn't to work for you. I am scheduling a tech service to get rid of the stains. I have been in the business for over 20 years. I am trying to get in with the company to handle in-store appointment setups and some tech support. This is if you have questions on how to get things up off the carpet. I can't do much of the work because of the messed up lower back, but I can help. Like I said, I own a corporation, Precision Cleaners. We do it all. We do carpet, air duct, restaurant, motel, hotel and casino cleaning services.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.

How much does upholstery cleaning cost?

The cost to have your upholstered furniture cleaned depends mostly on two factors: the size of the furniture and the type of fabric. The national average cost of upholstery cleaning ranges from $120 to $150. Most people have multiple pieces cleaned at once, but sofa cleaners will come to your home for just one heavily soiled couch or to spot-treat stains. The smaller the furniture, the lower the cost: A lounge chair may cost an average of $50 to clean, while a couch costs an average of $135 and an L-shaped sectional costs an average of $190. Delicate materials such as antique fabrics or suede upholstery are more expensive to clean than sturdier ones. Having the sofa cleaner do repairs will also add to the cost. Repairs such as mending a tear in fabric or patching a hole in leather may be charged by the task or by the hour; in general, repairs cost an average of $15 each. Special or delicate fabrics may cost additional fees, too.
