FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My focus is generally wedding, engagement, boudoir photography for my happy clients. Moreover, I cover the fun, romantic and crazy moments of the preparation, ceremony and reception. It's a beautiful time to capture the details, the people and all the love, which is why I love weddings! The 2nd most popular event is the Quinceanera, which can sometimes be even more elaborate and involved as weddings. I've been so fortunate to capture many young girls celebration into young womanhood and all of them have been amazing!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
1. First, I would say to spend some time researching the style of photos you want. There's so many photographers out there with so many styles, so if you are at a lost for what you're looking for, you're be too overwhelmed to make a choice or worst yet, let the cost make your decision. Photography, to be honest, is a luxury item, so you are doing yourself a disservice if you aren't getting what you want. Browse through magazines, the web, whatever you can find to gather pictures you like. 2. Next, is to interview a couple of photographers with your style. Ask them about their recent shoots and ask to see not only slideshows, but actual prints of their work. Get to know them and gauge how comfortable you are with them. Remember, these are people who will be in your closest proximity and personal space, so you need to feel comfortable around them. If a photographer is grouchy, makes you feel unsure or uncomfortable, that's a red flag they aren't the one for you. Keep looking! There could be close to 500 photographers in one city easily, trust me the odds are in your favor and there's one out there for you! 3. Finally, weigh the cost vs. the product & photographer. Now is the time to let your budget chime in. Any outside your budget, you can rule out (unless you can find a way to swing it!) and start making your decision on what you really, really want and what you really, really can afford. Don't forget to ask for any discounts or freebies (never hurts to ask!)
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I love photography because it is a beautiful form of art and journalism and I love looking at the finished product -- a great image that not only is visually appealing, but also tells a story. Seeing the reaction of the clients as they physically see what I was up to that day is what makes me happy. Not everyone with a fancy camera is a professional photographer. These days, anyone can bag a sweet camera and call themselves a photographer. You need to have a philosophy to your work, quality and exceptional customer service for your clients to be a photographer. It's not an easy job, beautifully capturing people's life events--but its an honorable and rewarding job. Research any photographer and interview them before signing any contract.
