Our initial estimate for the roof repair was based on the scope of work discussed during the inspection. However, after the heavy rainstorms, our re-inspection revealed additional structural damage that required more extensive repairs, resulting in additional material costs for lumber and a $20 landfill fee. There were no changes to the labor costs. We understand that the additional costs were not feasible for you, and we respect your decision regarding the project’s budget constraints. We want to assure you that our decision to decline the project was not taken lightly, and it was primarily due to the increased scope of work and the associated liability risks. We prioritize the safety of our crew and the integrity of the structure, and in this case, the project became unfeasible at the originally quoted price. We appreciate your understanding that our estimate was just that – an estimate – and we didn’t sign a contract or take a deposit. We also offered to refer you to another crew, but they similarly determined that the project wasn’t feasible within the originally quoted budget, given the additional material costs and requirements. We’re committed to transparency and clear communication in our business dealings. We’ll take this feedback into consideration to improve our processes moving forward.
