My son wanted some self defense skills that would be fun. He had been working with a trainer for strength and conditioning and Adam has been able to combine the 2 wonderfully. Very happy with our experience!
I Have studied with Justin for over 2 years. In that time amongst the many things he has taught me are ; sun, yang, and old yang style tai chi, bagua, self defense, and chi kung. I really appreciate the detailed explanations he gives as to what is behind what he teaches and the way the energy works. He is a very experienced, dedicated, knowledgable, patient, and grounded teacher. I have seen various students come to him after years of training in karate, grasshopper, or kung fu for example, and in one session realize that they have much to learn. Justin is the real deal. Yet he meets you at whatever level you are at. I highly recommend him.

I started taking ACWA self-defense classes not knowing what to expect. The team has an extensive knowledge of self-defense and the ability to help you gain confidence to use the techniques in real life situations. The interactive classes develop a sense of awareness of your surroundings and provide common sense concepts and functional defense based on easy, natural movements, not complicated techniques that require years to learn and execute properly. I have been able to build confidence as they have provided a toolbox to build from moving forward. I started in a class with beginners mixed in with more experienced students and never felt uncomfortable due to their ability to keep everybody engaged. Theyâre great at instructing to match individual students' level of experience and providing feedback without being critical. Learning self-defense at ACWA has been a great experience and I look forward to working with them through more extensive levels of instruction.

I took self defense lessons from him for about a year and it helped with my self confidence and took away a lot of fear I had about going out in public, especially evenings alone. He introduced me to moves that I dont think you can learn from anywhere else with the intention of self defense, and not karate, but actual self defense if someone grabbed you from behind. Our main focus is on self defense. We won't waste your time, teaching you things like weapons and so forth that you can not even carry with you on the street. Learn how to escape from someone who has you on the ground, not make them "tap out". There is no "tap out" on the street. Weapon disarming, pressure point application, balance disruption, joint locks, and take downs are examples of what we do. If you're looking for trophies and medals, that's not us.
