- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most of the time, I very much prefer to discuss pricing face to face after looking at the job with my two eyes. I think open communication is key to any business, and especially when it's contractual work as the customer should always know exactly what they're getting. There are too many variables in jobs ie mileage, picking up materials if required, unexpected conflicts structurally with some bigger tasks.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to have a quick conversation with them over the phone to get a feel for what it is they need and what their desire is for how they want it done. I then either schedule a date to come out to look at the project in order to give a quote and draw up what will be needed, or (with smaller projects) I will quote a price and schedule a time window to come complete the task.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Just a lifetime of labor. I started bouncing around different jobs/trades before I left high school and ever since then I've been compounding my knowledge into what has become a pretty diverse range of skills. I started building sets for my drama club extracurricular activity. Since then, I have spent a minimum of a year apiece installing glass shower enclosures, tinning ductwork and install tech work for hvac, brazing lineset and plumbing, mechanical assembly for tower cranes and hoists, electrical panel wiring, pouring concrete, installing beveling and polishing natural stone slabs. The list just keeps going on, and on...
