Stevo was the only one to respond to my search for "trainers" for my dog who has an extensive biting history. No other trainer would touch or make an attempt to try and work with a dog such as mine. When we spoke on the phone Stevo was very understanding to the situation surrounding me and my cannine companion. A meeting was promptly arranged and he was able to work around my busy un soical work schedule. He spent a great amount of time in out first meeting getting to find out about me and my dog. He then went through some steps to come with a solution to the problems we have been having involving my dogs biting for over a year now. He came woth tools and actually worked with my dog to show me what they do in the training process. He talked me through each and every single action he was doing: what my dog's reaction was, why, the intensity, etc. to make sure that I feel comfortable and that I am part of the training. He is honest and straight to the point. Responds fast, has full of wisdom and knwos his craft well. He truly cares for both the dog and the owners. Unbelievable guy!

When we adopted our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks we told they were Australian Shephards. We knew they weren't. They appeared to be a lab/Shepard mix and we were good with that. So was the adoption agency. They were so happy that we adopted the siblings, a male and female and didn't separate them. Fast forward to month four and their last set of shots. That's when we found out what breed they really were. They were growing so fast. Things changed rapidly as the dogs started to show aggression at other dogs while taking them on walks. It got to the point my wife just stopped walking them. They were to strong and the thought of the sheer terror of knashing their teeth and lunging and barking was just much to handle. Then it escalated again as they started turning on each other during these outbursts. That's when I stopped walking them. They truly earned their names Bonnie and Clyde. And not in a funny way. Enter Steve. Or Stevo as others like to call him. He came to the house and bravely and calmly entered. We had a 1-1/2 hour visit. We talked then he leashed up the dogs. On purpose he walked both dogs towards other people walking their dogs and nothing. Sure the dogs instinct kicked in but Steve had them conditioned. I have to tell you. I was amazed, pleased and saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I also missed a lot of what he did to control the two dogs but I know a few more sessions and the group sessions will all but diminish the horrifying thought of walking our dogs. Our two dogs are really cool and Steve could see that we really take care of them. Everyone is an expert at something. Steve is a polished dog obedience trainer. It's weird the power of silence and touch he has over our dogs. And I might add he isn't just training the dogs. He is training us. Soon we won't be 'those people with the two mean dogs' on the block. P.S. while Steve was walking/training our dogs more than a few neighbors came out to watch. It was neat to see their expressions. And my wifes.

The session with Checkmate k9 was terrific! Right from the start Stevo helped to understand me and my pet and the issues we were having. He was very straight forward throughout the session and offered a large amount of support not only for myself but also for my family. He did not only help my dog but as well as myself in order to help communicate better. My lab did very well and is progressing so much after just one visit!

We have the "gift is in the giving" pricing program. We want to take the risk out of working with a trainer. We want to earn your trust first! Show results first and allow you to give us what you valued the results from working with our trainers! It's so simple and rewarding for all.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to listen to the owners, watch and observe the relationship or the behavior issues. Then we educate and translate what's going on from the dogs view... And then we show the owners how to communicate in a language the dogs speak

We are real life trainers, with credentials working with the best trainers in the world; giving us our education. We have trained hundreds of dogs, so our tangible experience is second to none. We can solve problems very quickly, as we have seen and worked with these issues daily
