Q. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A. First we put ourselves in their shoes. Ask questions so we can advise them the best was to satisfy their need while saving them the most money!
Is there sentimental attachment to the item? We cannot place a value on sentimentality but we can tell you if it is work repairing or restoring. And we will tell you if it will cost more than it might be worth. Many that have sentimental attachment elect for us to go ahead with the repair but also appreciate us telling them its value.

Q. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A. We have over 100 years experience between just 3 of our employees! DSI has been in business since 1976.
Q. Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
A. Sorry we do not have for most items because they are all different size, detail (engraving or accents), mirror, satin or antique finishing and so many different types of metals?
I used to work for the psychic hot line but they fired me the first day!!! Of course I KNEW they were going to do it!!
Send a photo and the dimensions and we can come very close to an accurate estimate by email.
Q. What types of customers have you worked with?
A. Residential, Commercial and Decorators. Changing the color by plating Brass, Nickel, Copper, 999 Silver and/or 24Karat Gold household metal items from bath and kitchen fixtures to door knockers, kickplates, door handles and other household, auto, motorcycle and personal items.
Repairs, Polishing, Restoration and Plating to Silver-Plated and Sterling Silver trays, tea, coffee pots, creamers.
Clocks, art works, bronzes, jewelry, western sterling, lamps, fans, headboards, beds - we do all types of metals repairs.
Q. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A. 5 full bathrooms on a remodel that wanted all faucets and fixtures changed from polished brass to satin nickel. Also an old deteriorated brass bed to look like a well loved and carried for family heirloom.
Q. What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A. Ask if they do the services on site.
"All our work is in house."
Ask when they can reasonably expect the service to be returned.
"Ours is generally 3 to 10 working days."
Ask if they can color match changing the color plating of your item(s) (faucet, door handles, cherished family heirloom) to match the color of other items.
"We can change or plate Mirror Finish, Satin, or Antique Silver, Gold, Copper, Nickel, Brass or Bronze."
Can you renew, refurbish, restore my bath faucet and fixtures and door hardware or change them to a different color?
"Yes but not only that it can save you hundreds of dollars. New Faucets require the plumber to go INTO the wall as new fixtures will not "mate" with the old fixtures inside the wall. Will they have to go through tile or marble? Can you replace or repair it? By Restoring the old fixtures you eliminate the hassle and the cost of going into the walls!"
Q. What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
A. Will it cost more than it is worth?
What value of sentimentality should I give the item? Should I let it go or put the money into fixing, restoring it?
We also buy estate, antique sterling and gold pieces and give MORE than the metals value in most cases.
