- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Pure passion. Two of my strongest passions in life are yoga and healthy cooking/eating. I was living a busy, sometimes hectic and stressful life for several years and thought that was just a normal way to live because everyone around me seemed to be in the same boat. I thought to myself oftentimes "there has to be something more..." I had been practicing yoga during that time, but was not getting the promised benefits of yoga, such as balance, peace, feeling "light;" until I reached a deeper understanding of yoga. This is what I teach others-- the deeper understanding that they may not be getting elsewhere. It is when you reach that level, that true positive changes start to happen! Regarding my Healthy Food services, I realized there were a lot of educated people out there that thought they were making healthy choices for themselves and families; when in reality, the choices were not healthy at all. Many people think of health food as bland, boring, or not filling; when in fact it is none of these when prepared properly for each individuals needs, likes and dislikes. It is my goal to educate and train my customers step by step on how to implement small changes in their diet so they don't feel overwhelmed, resulting in a healthy lifestyle, not just a quick-fix "diet."
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask a lot of questions to make sure that your instructor has a full understanding of what you are looking for. It is important to teach what the student needs rather than what the instructor wants to teach--that is what separates the good instructors from the best instructors.
