Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. My advice for anyone looking to hire an interior designer or decorator, from a source other than a friend's recommendation, is to contact several of their references. Previous clients will tell all (good and bad), so ask lots of questions! You are certain to be pleased if the other clients have been really happy with their designer.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. A Hadley and Harriet design project stands out from others for one simple reason. We decorate with the lifestyle of the client in mind. We get to know the client, we discuss how to incorporate a great design around the functionality of their life. It will certainly be a beautiful design! But it must also be easy to live inside of each room, for each specific client. At the end of each project we consistently hear, "this is so perfect for us!". In the end, this is our reward.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I don't just "like" my job. I really "love" it. My clients are the reason I wake up every morning and can't wait to get started on a project. Whether the client is decorating a room for a first time baby, building their dream home from the ground up, or simply re-arranging their living room... they are inviting me to assist with design and decor choices that reflect their personality and their every day life. It is an honor to be invited to share in these experiences. It never fails that I walk away from a project with a great new friend. I really do "love" my job!

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. This job actually came looking for me! My friends and family (and eventually their friends) offered to pay for my assistance after I completed renovations and design of my own home, followed by design and decor of a 7000 square foot showroom and retail store on Lemmon Avenue in Dallas. And as it turns out, advertising was never a part of the business. Word of mouth has always carried us to the next job. After 12 years, the design business outgrew the Design District retail store. We are now based full-time in Lake Highlands.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. Our recent project was such a simple success, I cant wait to share. A client called with a request for a Master Bedroom Makeover. Two days later, while she was at work, we changed everything. Added a chair, artwork, drapes, new lamps, new bedding and pillows, and a mirrored table. She new absolutely nothing about our concept, except for the budget. This is a little different for us, but she called with such excitement to thank us that we may do this again at some point! Making her happy, made our day! THANKS Teri!!!
