About
I'm Dave Johnson, and I am an interior designer located near the Bishop Arts District in Dallas. I specialize in home interiors, and my look runs the gamut, from beachy and relaxed, to cozy farmhouse, to sleek and modern... it all depends on the needs and tastes of my client. I offer design services for projects big and small, as well as home staging, event design and project management.
I spent two decades designing in New York City for brands including Kenneth Cole and J. Crew. My move to Dallas in 2010 inspired a change in creative trajectory, and an opportunity to pursue my secret love: interior design. With a foot still firmly in the world of NY design and style, I leverage the endless inspiration it provides in my creative process.
I love bringing dream spaces to life for my clients, and I'd love to do the same for you!

Dave always responds quickly and very thorough in his replies. The quality of design work was far beyond what I expected. He listened to me, asked a lot of questions to thoroughly understand my vision and offered ideas in the process. Once the interiordesign was done and approved, Dave walked me through purchasing the items. His commitment to see the project to the end is amazing. I plan on hiring Dave again in the near future. Great Experience! I highly recommend Dave Johnson Interiors

Dave Johnson of Dave Johnson Interiors has truly transformed our home! Over the past year, Dave has worked meticulously with us, designing our downstairs living room, dining room, and transitional areas. His dedication to understanding our preferences and lifestyle has been nothing short of impressive.
Dave took the time to get to know what my husband and I wanted. He is honest and upfront, never hesitating to tell us when he thinks something doesn't work. His approach is always solution-oriented, providing multiple options and working within our price point. There is no pressure to buy, as he allows us to go at our own pace and implement his design as our budget allows.
From the initial consultation to the final touches, Dave's creativity and professionalism shone through. His ability to blend aesthetics with functionality resulted in spaces that are not only stunning but also incredibly livable. We are nearly done with the downstairs, and we would love to have Dave's help doing our master bed and bath very soon.
Dave's attention to detail and commitment to excellence have exceeded our expectations. He was always available to answer our questions and provided invaluable insights throughout the design process. We couldn't be happier with the results and highly recommend Dave Johnson Interiors to anyone looking to elevate their home.
Thank you, Dave, for helping make our home a special place!

Dave Johnson Interiors was the perfect person to help me with the interior of my new art gallery in Dallas. I was moving my gallery from Seattle to Dallas and I needed a designer to help me with the layout of the space as well as the furnishings. He had great ideas and designed a reception desk and area that you first see when you walk in the door. His preliminary designs were easy to read and he listened to my needs and made the adjustments until it was just what I wanted.
He worked directly with a cabinet maker to have a custom built reception desk. The design of it is very elegant and modern with subtle angles that highlight the wood work. I get compliments all the time when people walk in and see my reception area, they love the desk and the pendant lights above it that illuminate it. It is smart and functional.
Dave also pick out all the furnishing for my showroom: chairs, tables, sofa, etc. I could not be happier with the way it looks. It is sophisticated and comfortable for clients to sit in. He also designed the my storage racks for the art, one giant white cube divided into sections so that paintings and framed works of art can be stored safely but with easy access to pull out for viewing. This makes it easy for me to show clients a multitude of things while they are sitting.
I will definitely use his services again. I am really quite happy the way it all turned out. I highly recommend him for any project.

Dave is such a pleasure to work with and I love how he improved my TV Room and Bedroom. Both are such an improvement and he brought in ideas I would not have thought of to make the small room efficient and lovely. He is flexible and bring many options to choose from and worked with me until I was pleased with each aspect of the design. Love his work!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually prefer to structure my projects by the hour. I'll always quote ahead of time what I think the job will take, and will stick to that number. That way, my client knows ahead of time what to expect, cost-wise. I'm a big believer in transparency and trust, and how it can enhance the designer/client relationship.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Working with a new customer starts with a lot of communicating! Both so that I can get to know the client, but also so they can to know me, and know that I have heard them. Clients have remarked that I ask some wide ranging questions, but I think that is hugely important in really getting to know a new client, and what they need to make their space really function for them.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with a wide variety of clients, from all walks of life, and all price points. Many of my clients are relocating to the DFW area to work for the new corporate headquarters that have been opening here. They come from NYC or San Francisco, and find themselves plopped down in the the middle of a new 3000 square foot house, with just 700 square feet of furniture! That seems to happen a lot, lately, and it's fun adding in new pieces to what they already have to help them grow into their new Dallas lives.
I also get a lot of people who just need a little change. They love where they live, but want to shake things up with new paint color, and just rearranging what they already have. This is a great way to make a few hours of design help go a LONG way. We just dive in, and edit and rearrange as we go! We can even specify paint color right then and there. The change can be pretty dramatic.
