Hernandez Repairs
Hernandez Repairs initially appeared professional and responsive, but that changed the moment payment was made. I paid $175 for what was described as a full diagnostic, inspection, thermopile cleaning, relighting, temperature adjustment, and “verified proper operation.” He stated the water heater was functioning correctly when he left, but that was not the case.
When the unit failed again shortly afterward within 2 hours, I reached out repeatedly through calls and Thumbtack messages throughout the weekend, asking him to come back or at least reassess the issue. Every message and call went unanswered. My tenant was left without hot water for several days and described the experience as “crickets after he got paid” and “he didn’t do anything he claimed he did.” She also shared how the lack of hot water affected her health, saying “I have fibromyalgia and poor circulation — I can’t take cold showers, I can’t even clean my wounds properly.”
Because Hernandez Repairs refused to respond or return, I had no choice but to hire a CERTIFIED plumber from Roto‑Rooter. According to his professional assessment, none of the work Hernandez Repairs claimed to have performed made any difference. The water heater was still in the same condition, and the certified plumber stated plainly that the supposed repairs “did nothing.” His professional opinion was that the issue had never been properly addressed.
Given the misrepresentation of services, the lack of follow‑through, and the hardship caused to my tenant, I will be filing a formal BBB complaint. I will also be requesting that Thumbtack verify Hernandez Repairs’ certification status, as the quality of work and the refusal to respond do not reflect certified or competent service. Based on the certified plumber’s findings and the complete lack of resolution, I am requesting a full refund of the $175 paid.
This experience showed a clear pattern: responsiveness until payment, followed by silence, no follow‑up, and no actual repair. I strongly recommend avoiding Hernandez Repairs for any plumbing or home maintenance services.
