I recently had an issue arise with my home computer that I was not able to handle on my own. It blue screened and proceeded to go into a repair loop in which it was unable to repair itself. Feeling a bit lost and unsure of what to do I found Thumbtack and requested a quote to hopefully get my computer back up and running. Harry Stein with Stein Solutions was the first person I heard back from, despite the fact he is not locally located to me. His quote was quite reasonable and even offered that if he was unable to fix the issue I would not have to pay. To me, this proves that Stein Solutions cares about their customers and aren't just about the money. After spending several hours on the phone with me several days in a row, I could clearly see that Mr. Stein does truly care about his customers and not the money. He's dedicated to making sure they understand not just the issues causing the problems that may have arisen but also ways to prevent them should they be preventable. In my case, it turned out to be a hard drive failure and not something he was able to fix, only because of the distance between us and the means to get the computer to him for the repair was not there. Had that not been an issue he could have done the repair for me as well. Because getting the computer to him was not possible and he was not able to actually repair the computer for me, he put forth the effort in helping me to locate someone closer who could do the necessary repairs once we knew what was wrong. He was very professional and walked me through the steps to diagnose the issue and determine that it was indeed a hard drive failure. Mr. Stein also made every effort to ensure the repair costs were reasonable and to make sure I would not be overcharged for the work that needed to be done. I think he did a wonderful job and I am more than greatful for every effort he put into making sure my computer would be up and running again at an affordable rate. Not only does Mr. Stein put forth the effort in making sure the repairs are affordable. He goes the extra mile in insuring his customers are both well taken care of and well educated, and his services don't just stop with the repair. He also ensures you walk away with the knowledge to be able to prevent future issues that can be prevented. I would definitely recommend him to anyone; because he does do repairs remotely as well but if that is not a possibility as was in my case, he will still make sure you get connected with someone who can help. I also am very greatful for his timely response. His quote came in within a few hours of my request rather than days later; and even getting the referral needed for the local repair was done fairly quickly. A huge thank you to Mr. Stein for the caring nature in which he takes care of his customers, for his professionalism, for the effort he puts forth, and for all of his hard work and expertise! If I was able to give more than a 5 star rating, I would most certainly do so!
John was a very nice guy. He stayed with me after he repaired the computer to make sure I understood the new applications and made sure everything worked properly. John is a true professional who got the job done. I recommend him to anyone who needs computer repair.

After repairs, computer worked as if it were brand new! Worked very fast, improved Microsoft word, and windows. Didn't take long at all. Reasonable price for it all.
My relatively new Dell PC would not boot. It was just a few months out of warranty. The errors indicated that there was something wrong with the memory. I bought new memory, swapped it out again and again, and still it would not boot. I found John on Thumbtack and am so glad that I did. I dropped the computer off to John and he had it working again in just a day. He somehow fixed the memory issue, but then Windows would not start correctly, so he backed up all of my files and did a restore of the computer to factory Windows 8 settings, and then even did an upgrade to Windows 10. He then re-loaded all of my files and even offered to load Acrobat reader for me. All the while he kept me informed, via text and email, of what he was doing. I was able to drop off and pick up my computer at his house on weekday evenings, so it doesn't get much more convenient than that. John really went above and beyond in his efforts to get my PC running again. He even followed up with me to see how the computer was running and sent me information on how to configure Windows so that it would do automatic backups, which I hadn't been doing. I recommend John very highly. He has been an IT professional for many years and is incredibly knowledgeable. He's also a real nice guy. The best part of all of this, besides the quality job that he does, is that the total cost was $50. I'll be recommending him to my friends and family when they need computer repair/assistance.
Thanks to Experimac, I was lucky to receive some trade in value on my broken Macbook Pro, along with a few other item (old Macbook & Iphone) and was able to get a brand new computer for about what a repair would have costs me. they were patient, polite, informative, & really interesting in fulfilling client needs!
John took my computer while I was away on vacation with family. He continually contacted me when there was a question or concern and kept me updated, daily as the progress continued. Initially, I had taken my laptop to Fry's and was confused by all of the problems they said I had. While at Fry's I met John, who was a customer, and he asked me what the problem was with my laptop. He indicated that, if I went with Fry's quote, I needed to ensure that they did not charge me for another copy of Windows 7 because it was already installed on my laptop and could be reinstalled after fixing or replacing the hard drive. He gave me his phone number and I decided to call him to discuss this when I got home. I called John and he asked me a lot of questions about the laptop and came to the conclusion that the problem was less serious than was described. He indicated that he could take a look at the laptop and run several programs to assess it's issues. I took the laptop to him and over the period of a week found that the original assessment of 'replacing the hard drive,' purchasing and reinstalling Windows 7 and buying another copy of Microsoft Office was false and he would start working on the fix that very day. He called me for permission to buy 'recovery dvd's from Gateway to ensure that the correct software would be installed with the proper drivers, etc. He indicated that the major problem with the laptop was that it had been used and not 'optimized' for so many years that the software had become corrupted with conflict of drivers, etc. By the time I got home the following week, he had diagnosed the entire laptop, performed a COMPLETE backup of my entire laptop files and re-installed the laptop to Gateway factory specifications, all without charging me any additional fee. Most of what was done did not require me to pay for more software or hardware. John knew what he was doing and my laptop is working better than when it was delivered, brand new. The hard drive did not need to be replaced and I was ecstatic about the work he performed. I can honestly say that he saved me over $250 in repairs that were unneeded and my laptop has never worked better or faster. I will certainly call him again, if the need arises. I appreciated his patience and efforts with this technically challenged individual!!!! If you need someone to fix your computer, laptop or network, you need to contact John because he will give you the best quote and keep you informed, daily of the work he is doing. You can't go wrong with his services.

Kevin provided all the information we needed to purchase a new computer. He came to the house and installed it and moved all our files from the old computer. I recently purchased a new laptop in order to play online poker. The problem was that I could not log into my favorite site.
