Once I filled in my request on Thumbtack 7-16-24, Model K-9 texted me, as did several other pet trainers. Amie from Model K-9 then phoned me within the ten minutes I said I needed. Discussion ensued on training needed. I feel she truly listened to me. Amie was able to be here for our first session this morning on 7-17-24. Both Bree and I felt comfortable with her right off the bat. She detailed the procedures or steps we would be working on with this first sesh. I was blown away by the complete attention she commanded from my active dog (preserverance-Yes!!). She also did NOT tell me what I was doing wrong (but I knew LoL). She simply explained why certain behaviors (mine) would not likely have a positive outcome for my fur baby. So, I can stay the boss (term used very lightly here) without giving mixed signals to my fur baby, a pack animal who wants only to please their leader, whether in the wild or domesticated. I'm looking forward to working WITH my fur baby not against her, thanks to Model K-9. Right now I'm excited and positive, and looking forward to our next sesh. Hope I pass, coz Bree has already proven she CAN listen AND obey.

Details: 1 - 2 years old • Large (41 - 70 lbs) • I'm flexible • General obedience training • Leash pulling • Digging • Destructive behavior • Crate training • At the pro’s location • My home, venue, etc.

We have a 15-month-old Maltese/Terrier mix rescue dog named Tramp, He has a lot of energy, a stubborn streak, and some bad habits like jumping on people and play-biting hands and feet. He also pulls hard on a leash so he needed to learn how to do a walk correctly. In our first session, Amie shared a lot of interesting information about a dog’s brain and ability to focus. As she worked with Tramp, I could see the 3 signs that he was getting tired that she had talked about. We were happy that the training did not depend on treats. She taught us how to use tone and timing with our “yes/no” rewards and corrections. She explained the exercises and commands and had us practice them with Tramp while she offered additional instruction. Rose performed the training in most of our sessions so spent the most time with us. She has a great sense of humor, and is very patient and supportive. She sent us a video of her training her dog and took a video of one of our training sessions with Tramp – both of which helped us a lot. Rose didn’t leave a session until she answered every question we had! Tramp (and us) has made a lot of progress on walking so we can enjoy it now. We are still working on Come and Stay with Tramp, and really liked Rose’s suggestion to work those commands into as many opportunities daily as we could (instead of just in time focused on training)! Tramp was very receptive to Amie and Rose who both obviously care about the dogs they train. Thanks Amie and Rose!

Details: 1 - 2 years old • Medium (26 - 40 lbs) • Private lessons • General obedience training • Leash pulling • My home, venue, etc.

This was the best dog training service I have received and I have had many, something that really stood out to me was how calm and controlled my Miniature Schnauzer and Miniature Yorkshire were while being trained for several things that were needed. This was honestly amazing and I highly recommend Model K-9.
