I needed my hinges replaced on my computer and it was going to be very expensive if Best Buy did it, so I called ML Geek Services and they were able to perform the work fast and effectively. The price quoted was very reasonable and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend their services for business or personal use.

I have worked with Andria since 2012, and I can easily say that she is one of most amazing professionals I have ever worked with. She helped publish my first book! The process was seamless and positive. She has also edited my weekly blogs for several years. Andria is really superb at her craft as a writer. She excels at both editing or writing fresh content. She also has great experience in publishing including overseeing book layout and design. If you want to write, or publish anything from articles, to blogs, to books, you cannot find a better person to work with. Moreover, Andria is a wonderful professional and human being. She is always prompt, has never missed a deadline as long as we have worked together, and her work is always high quality. Andria is super kind, pleasant, patient and affirming! I look forward to working with Andria for many years to come. Wes Saade M.D.

I was thrilled to have Sharon write my resume and cover letter! I was concerned about having to go back to work full-time after being at home with my children. Sharon assured me that it was fine, and was able to explain my resume gap with ease. She is a very talented writer, and I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family.

From time to time I have worked with Bill on specific and difficult business and legal issues. He was quick to understand the issues and made proposals that promoted resolution rather than controversy. I would recommend him without reservation for drafting or reviewing a business plan and for developing or refining management or marketing strategies.

Sam created logos for my photography business and I couldn't be more impressed. I gave him the most basic idea of what I was looking for and he presented me with multiple creative logo designs for me to choose from and got them to me way sooner than expected! Sam has not only fulfilled what I had expected, he went above and beyond to ensure that what he had created was exactly what I needed. He took the time to make sure he understood what my company stood for and paid attention to little details that make it unique. His creativity, professionalism, and his extraordinary customer service definitely sets him apart from any other person/company I have worked with.

Dr. Tanginika is fantastic! I am so blessed to have found her. I was having a lot of trouble moving my dissertation forward and getting it approved. I found an ad about her services on Craigslist and I was skeptical. Once I contacted her, I knew she was the one who could help me. Her service is personable, she really understand what you are going through and literally mentors you throughout the process. She is an academic writer, a psychologist, and a friend. She took my dissertation, turned it around and I was able to get approved and graduate. I thank heaven for putting Dr. Tanginika in my path.

As a freelance marketing professional on occasion part of my client's work request will include spreadsheets and financial analysis. In order for me to concentrate on the marketing aspects of the project, I have outsourced the finance pieces of the project to Martha. She is an excel power user and did a great job of managing the budget. With her financial background we were able to find alternative suppliers for the project and as a result - a cost saving to the customer. She is very business savvy and would be an excellent choice to assist with numerous business projects.

        About

I am a creative writer. Mostly poetry and song lyrics (see weatheredpages.com). I am skilled in entertainment based writing, including commentary on issues. I am also a skilled technical writer (I am a Civil Engineer by trade) and have written many technical specs in my day. I prefer creative/entertainment based writing however.

        About

I am a professional writer, editor, designer, and production artist with heavy branding experience -- basically, I am an entire creative shop in a single pair of flip flops. Just as importantly, my overhead is low and I am able to offer a very reasonable hourly rate. I have experience in newspaper, advertising, corporate marketing and positioning, and grass roots promotions. I have varied interests and clients so my project list for a day could include: social media for a local animal rescue, print brochure for a prestigious law school event, sustainability report for a recycling company, and a website rewrite for a Baptist church. You just never know how many pies you get to stick your hands in over the course of a day, and that's how freelance really stokes my creative fire. My clients appreciate that I submerge myself in their projects, as well as their industry, so that I can make informed decisions and offer constructive input when working on projects. Clients also take comfort in the fact that I am maniacally meticulous -- I refuse to allow any work to leave my hard drive before it is crafted to perfection and dead-on in strategy.

        About

We use an academic approach to solving business problems. The U.S. Military uses academic research (i.e., Dissertations and Peer Reviewed Articles) as a tool in solving critical problems. Why? Because the research is completed and it is free for them to access. Why pay to conduct research if it has already been done. Our approach dependent on the client is to research studies completed and create an action plan to implement into their business. The fast pace of projects and helping others and companies become successful. I enjoy the hunt in finding solutions to critical problems and if it is a clients problem then it is critical to me no matter the size. Always learning and always teaching, I like being out of my comfort zone enabling true learning and teaching.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

        • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
        • Strong writing skills.
        • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
        • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
        • Expertise in your target area.
        • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

        • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
        • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
