- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly researching for my dissertation, which makes me stay up to date with the latest developments in math education. I am a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). I receive two of their journals, one is based on research and the other is based on what is happening in the classroom. I attend NCTM conferences and technology conferences. I continue my education through voluntary professional development. I constantly search the internet for new ideas and for sites students can use to support learning.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided to start tutoring because the math standards changed for the 2014-2015 school year for grades K-8. High school standard change starting the 2015-2016 school year. I hear about many teachers struggling and many students struggling. I feel I am qualified to help students fill in the gaps in math or support their learning of math.
