Fiza explained to me every step and procedure up front and I believed every lawyer should know the law of the state well enough to practice it but what distinguishes her the personal support and the felling that you have a friend on your side , I really HIGLLY recommend Fiza and her staff. For me I will never go to another lawyer because I really feel Fiza is highly knowledgeable lawyer and a friend , God bless her and her family!

Impressed with our experience at this law firm. We had been to other attorneys but they did not have that much confidence in our case. Here, however, the lawyers said they have handled many cases like ours and have been very successful. Im optimistic that they will be able to help us with our needs

I made an inquiry for a bankruptcy for my business. I would say within 20 minutes I got a response from Mr. Kim following up on my inquiry. He spent close to an hour discussing my options about my business. After talking to him he even mentioned that filing right now would be too soon and that I should hold off for now so that I could get the best result later on. I never met an attorney who would hold off on earning money for himself just so that I could get the best result for my situation! I am so impressed with his ethics and consideration of my situation before his own. Although I have decided not to file bankruptcy right now, he was wiling to talk to me in the future if I had any questions. Im definitely keeping him in my phone for future help!

If you are reading this you are seeking the truth and help. Here you will find it. Meehan & Naveed Attorneys at Law are the utmost professional attorneys I've ever worked with. Do not think I mean prim. They are friendly. Courteous. Responsive. Their work quality is above reproach. I spoke with six different attorneys, SIX!, within 24 hours of my family's final immigration interview. Meg Naveed took my case. Negotiated an upfront price and grabbed the storm by the reigns. What truly attracted me the MOST to this firm was their absolute honesty in everything we did together. All they required of me and my family was to be prepared, and they did that also! Prior to the meeting Meg took the time out of her busy schedule, rescheduled where necessary to fit ME in, practice interviews and rehearsed before we even left her office. This law firm is truly the best immigration law firm I've ever worked with. With generations of experience on BOTH sides of the immigration front and a fresh new look and understanding of today's world, Meehan & Naveed Attorneys at Law know what to do, when to do it and precisely who to speak with to get it done. I trust them with the future of the immigration for the rest of my family. Last note. The attorneys will not allow the interviewers to "steam roll" you. The attorney(s) are there to help you and this firm nails it. They stick up for you and are a great barrier of relief between you and "them".

Part 1 of my review. So after much research on finding the right divorce attorney, I decided to go with Mr. Hanten and his associates. The reason this is part (1) one of my review is due to my case is still on-going and I will write my final review once all is said and done. My experience with Mr. Hanten and his Wonderful Legal Assistant thus far has been amazing!! Prompt responses, professional advice and more importantly, Mr. Hanten and his firm gives me the impression that they actually care!! I will follow up with this review once my case is settled and complete.

I worked with Mr Rivas to do an Adjustment of Status (AOS) for my wife. We had a number of tricky angles in our situation that other attorney's gave mixed answers to. After consulting with him, we finally had a clear game plan to follow after lots of confusion! His many years of experience in this field were reflected in the advice he provided throughout all stages of our immigration process (which is quite long.. 9-12 months or more) I think its important to also point out that one of the deciding factors in our decision to work with Mr Rivas was that in the very beginning, while we were attorney shopping, he was one of the only attorneys to respond to our questions with actual useful answers. Other attorneys held back info or tried to sell me on ideas that seemed to benefit them more than me. We truly do appreciate all the help Mr Rivas provided. The end of the story is that our green card is now in the mail!

I am truly one of the most satisfied clients of all time! I came into Attorney Rashid's office on a Friday evening ... one business day before my home was going to be foreclosed. I was reluctant to trust anyone as a result all of the misleading information that I had received from my mortgage company. Mr. Rashid was kind, patient, understanding and extremely knowledgable of what needed to be done to file the proper bankruptcy. He not only reassured me that he would file all of the necessary papers to prevent the foreclosure, he also worked all day on Saturday to make sure that I had everything in place so I would not lose my home. Before I came into Attorney's Rashid's office, I had gone to one of the "top" bankruptcy firms in Houston. After my consultation with them, I was sent away because I did not have my taxes up to date. I promised them that I could go and have my taxes done that day but they refused to help me. They were nonchalant regarding my dyer situation, I left in tears. I called Attorney Rashid's law firm immediately after leaving this "top" bankruptcy firm and after I explained my situation, was asked to come over immediately. Attorney Rashid was there, on time with a reassuring smile, willing to help me do what it took to save my home. He allowed me that time to get my taxes done and on Tuesday, the day my home was to be foreclosed ... it was not! I am very happy to say that I been have approved for my home modification and my monthly mortgage is hundreds lower than they were before. If it had not been for Attorney Rashid, my home, that I have been in for over 22 years, would have been foreclosed! He is a consummate professional who truly cares about his clients. His firm should be labeled the "TOP BANKRUPTCY FIRM" in Houston, possibly the nation. Thank you again Attorney Rashid for everything ... you are the best!

Attorney Udo is kind, smart and you can tell he really enjoys fighting for his clients. He has been working on a particularly nasty divorce case for me and I am quite sure that the positive outcome we have so far would not have been possible without an attorney like him who really works hard for his client. He stays on top of everything and makes sure we gather all the information we need to make the strongest case each time. I am so glad he has been the one fighting for me and my children.

I was referred to Attorney Bruera through another lawyer. Attorney Bruera was very knowledgeable, quick to answer questions and helpful during my case. She explained the process to me in depth since I had never filed a lawsuit before. She was always available to speak with me directly which I appreciated. I recently recommended her to my cousin who was involved in an accident.

I have personally dealt with Rick more so than Jean but both of these people are fantastic. One of the best things about them is how well they work together and how precise they are. The biggest thing about that is whenever Rick cannot get back to me right away, he can assure that Jean will relay the message or if not just as easily be able to answer my question. They have definitely helped me out with a lot of stuff. Long story short, if ya want or need an attorney(s) that will not drag ya through the mud, then I highly suggest Rick and Jean Fair. They are honest people with good ethics that know their stuff.

West & West LLP

Michael West has been my family attorney for three separate cases in the past nine years. In the first one, he defended two of my Civil Air Patrol colleagues and myself against a fraudulent lawsuit brought about by two individuals that claimed we had contracted with them for rental of a facility when we clearly were publicly acknowledged that the facility was permitted to be used by the Hobby Senior Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol rent free. The culmination of that lawsuit was when the plaintiffs were unable to explain how a signature line on the purported rental document specifying a Wing Commander’s signature had been obliterated by a “cut and paste forgery” of one of my colleague’s signatures. Other witnesses testified as to the authenticity of our claims of being allowed to use the facility rent free without any obligations what-so-ever. The judgement in that case was that both sides went away and took nothing from each other but the judgment cleared my colleagues and myself of any obligation (past, present and future) to the plaintiffs. A second case was against a defendant that tried to claim that money I had loaned her was a gift when I clearly had a document that the defendant had initialed indicating that it was clearly a loan that was to be repaid by a certain date without interest at that specified time. The defendant contested that position but on a check that the defendant had cashed, it was clearly documented that the check was an “emergency loan.” The defendant tried to dispute that documentation but the judge would have none of that nonsense from the defendant and ruled in our favor. The defendant had to pay the judgment against her and despite several appeals by the defendant; the case was clearly a victory for us. A third case that involved a property dispute has just been completed and the ruling of the jury was 12-0 in favor of Michael’s client, Lucy Turoff. This was a matter of a purchase of property by my wife. The defendants in that dispute had unlawfully encroached on almost a ten foot swath of the property that they claimed was theirs by adverse possession and that they claimed to have had a fence delineating that claim in place for many years. That was proven to be a false claim as well as their claim of the proper boundary of the property. We had photographic evidence that such was not the case and all of the property surveys supported our position in the lawsuit. With all of the legal documentation supporting our position and video documentation of the tortuous interference by the defendants, we were totally confident in our attorney’s ability to have the jury trial (that the defendants insisted upon) won in our favor. I highly recommend Michael West’s firm (West and West, L.L.C.) for use by those who seek justice in civil case matters. Respectfully yours, Michael L. H. Turoff

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

    • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
    • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
    • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
    • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
    • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
    • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
    • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What kind of lawyer does wills?

No one likes talking about death, but it’s better than leaving your children or siblings to sort out your estate. A clearly planned will can make the time of mourning easier for everyone. An estate attorney will develop a legal will, create trusts on your behalf, and ensure the proper execution of your estate after you pass away.

Family attorneys and estate attorneys, also called probate and wills attorneys, can each prepare wills. The type of lawyer best suited to prepare your will depends on your situation. Most family attorneys provide services to prepare basic wills, including bequeathing property and personal items to family or naming a guardian for minor children. However, estate attorneys specialize in preparing wills in more complex situations. Consider hiring an estate attorney if you:

    • Have a large number of assets, especially those subject to estate taxes
    • Want to create a trust, such as allowing a spouse to live in your home until he or she dies and then leaving it to your children, or set up long-term care for a beneficiary
    • Have an ownership stake in a business
    • Expect someone to contest your will
    • Want to disinherit your spouse
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
