Do a portfolio background check on the artist's caliber of work, in order to ensure that your artist is in line with the level of talent you expect to receive. Make sure your artist can do all levels of makeup necessary for the job you are requiring. Only hire a certified airbrush artist. And always remember...you get what you pay for!
