What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I do 12 CEU's in massage and 8 in Cosmetology every other year.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was doing some part time self employed modeling and the agency would send me to work shops teaching different hair styles and make up for different jobs, is what made me think of getting into cosmetology.Once doing that and really liking the fact I could make a difference in someone life. I was in a car accident, had to go to physical therapy, and while working in a day spa I had the manager, massage therapist and facial have me, when I wasn't busy, massage their shoulders, necks and backs saying I really should get into massage I had the hands for it. So with a little more insight than most massage therapist having had to go through physical therapy myself for my injuries decided to start doing massage as well.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have helped clients with injuries after they finished physical therapy get more movement in the injured areas by working on the muscles, doing tense relax stretching, and trigger point. Helping also relax stressed out muscle from everyday stresses be it work related or life.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I had a client come in after she had elbow surgery and had started physical therapy. Because of the injury and having the arm in a cast for a while she couldn't get the arm to move to a straight position. It was in a 45 degree angle. After working on her for three sessions we had her arm almost all the way straight. And she was able to move it more freely. She was very happy. I felt very happy for her and very grateful that I was able to help her.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure they are licensed, and up today on things they should know. And if at anytime you feel uncomfortable speak up and let them know if the pressure is to much or not enough for you.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
It is a passion of mine, I love what I do and get up every morning looking forward to helping people. I do my best to make sure to listen to what the needs of clients are and do the best I can to make sure they are relaxed once finished.
