Jack of Two Trades

Introduction: It's all in my approach. Others make assumptions that you're already familiar with something like the distance formula. They say "Look. This is the distance formula, now memorize it.". If you just take a look at the formula itself, it is intimidating, long, and complicated. You have to remember exactly what order all of these numbers and symbols go in, and then you have to be able to recall it and use it! How is anyone supposed to do that for every single formula you encounter?! But, what if I told you that the distance formula is just a rearranged pythagorean theorem? A-squared+B-squared = C-squared is a lot easier to memorize, and all you have to do is rearrange it and boom. You have the distance formula. But, more importantly, you know WHY the distance formula works. No memorization. That bit of knowledge is yours to keep and you'll have it forever. Never assume! Never repeat a method that doesn't work! Don't teach people how to memorize! Teach them how to learn! With music it is always AMAZING how different people take what I say in a completely different way than I'd ever expect them to. Telling them just a few tips and tricks and watching the gears turn to grind out a piece of music I would've never thought to write is incredible. With art, you get to watch expression happen; a truly mystifying experience.
