I have learned so much with Lauren. Her lessons were engaging, useful and she was very patient with me. As a student, you feel pushed to learn and try out new competencies, feel supported and confidence. She also helped to improve with conversation for a interview, I honestly would have never passes if it was not for her help! She’s amazing on what she do. I will highly recommend!

I struggled a lot with language classes at school, they were never really my thing, but I got so much help here and things actually began to make sense. Prof Abadia does such a good job of making things make sense and finding fun ways to incorporate them into lessons.

I had worked with Megumi, my japanese tutor, the entire summer of 2021; and I feel that my experience had taught me many things. In each lesson I learned new words to study, read different passages from Japanese textbooks, and did a lot of speaking practice in which we mainly just talked in the target language about our experiences in relation to whatever lesson she taught that day. In my tutoring experience, I had looked for a type of lesson that focused on increasing my writing and speaking skills, as well as reading (as I was already fairly confident with my listening). In these lessons I had gotten exactly what I had hoped. I was given homework for over the week till the next lesson that had seemed fairly light in my opinion, but it was perfect for the more laid back style I had searched for. Now that the summer is over, I have to go back to a slower self study style, but I definitely hope to learn from her again in the future!

We hired Lauren to teach English to my 71 years old father. After 4 classes, I can already see improvement. He’s enjoying his virtual classes a lot :)

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We often offer package deals at a cheaper hourly rate than our standard hourly rate. We also often have small group classes available as well as private lessons.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Due to COVID, all our lessons will be done online via Zoom or Skype. I typically offer a free face to face consultation meeting for all languages to discuss any questions we may have for each other. This also allows us to get to know each other and see if it will be a good teacher-student fit. And it also allows me to get an evaluation of the student's level and needs. Next, we make a plan for the student. This includes - what materials to use, what to do during class time, what to do with homework etc. Each student is different and has different needs. So we customize each lesson to fit what the student needs most. That way we can help you improve efficiently! Then, we get started!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My degree is in International Studies with a minor in Russian language. I also have a certification for TEFL/TESL/TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language). Before I started my own business teaching English as a Second Language, I taught English in Taiwan, I taught conversational English to international graduate students at A&M University, and I worked as a teacher/manager at a local Test Prep center that catered mostly to Korean students who recently moved to the United States and were preparing for college here. My extensive travels (I have visited over 40 countries) and my study of other languages (I have studied Spanish, Russian, and a tiny bit of Korean) have also given me a deeper understanding of culture and language that allows me to be a better and more effective teacher of English. For all languages, our teachers working for me have extensive training and teaching experience and are native speakers or speak at a native level with native accent. We are all passionate about language and helping students learn language and culture.
