FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most lessons are priced as packages of 10 hours or 20 hours. Hours don't expire and can be used as scheduled. Custom packages can be arranged. We also often have small group classes available as well as private lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We typically offer a free initial consultation meeting for all languages in order to evaluate your level and needs, discuss your language goals, ask/answer any questions, make a plan/curriculum for your lessons. This also allows you to get to know the tutor and make sure you'll be a good teacher-student fit. Next, we make a plan for the student. This includes - what materials to use, what to do during class time, what to do with homework etc. Each student is different and has different needs. So we customize each lesson to fit what the student needs most. That way we can help you improve efficiently! Then, we get started!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My degree is in International Studies with a minor in Russian language. I also have a certification for TEFL/TESL/TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language). Before I started my own business teaching English as a Second Language, I taught English in Taiwan, I taught conversational English to international graduate students at A&M University, and I worked as a teacher/manager at a local Test Prep center that catered mostly to Korean students who recently moved to the United States and were preparing for college here. My extensive travels (I have visited over 40 countries) and my study of other languages (I have studied Spanish, Russian, and a tiny bit of Korean) have also given me a deeper understanding of culture and language that allows me to be a better and more effective teacher of English. For all languages, our teachers working for me have extensive training and teaching experience and are native speakers or speak at a native level with native accent. We are all passionate about language and helping students learn language and culture.
